It was a cloudy day today, which always marked the beginning of a good day for Laine. It meant she could leave the house without fear of burning to badly. Spinning her parasol and humming to herself, she set out for a walk. It didn't really matter where she ended up, just so long as she was alone. People meant temptation, and she really did hate feeding. It was messy, and the risk was often great. Looking down at the pale hand holding the parasol, she knew she would have to soon though. It had been a week since the last person she had bled dry. Pushing the thought out of her mind she continued walking.
Not long after she became aware of her surroundings at the sound of a child. Looking up she realized she was at the playground. She tried to avoid this part of town more than any other, for it always made her sad, made her think of what might have been. Her feet moved on their own, taking her closer to the playground and the child that was playing. She located a bench and sat down, not noticing the man near the child. A soft smile graced her lips as she watched, and dreamed of the past she left behind.

Brown eyes watched the young hispanic girl climbing the ladder on unsteady feet and sliding down the kiddie slide with a fit of giggles over and over, finally collapsing in the woodchip, shouting random sounds that didn't even form words. She was only a little over two now.
"Daddyyy," She huffed. The young man, not even old enough to look much of a father, ran a hand over his head, unaware of the watching eyes. He glanced at his watch, knew he had to get pack to the car lot soon, had Hailie with him for the next few days.
He crouched beside her, tickling her gently. "We gotta get back soon kiddo, I got no one else at the shop." "No no noo!" She squealed, trying to squirm awayfrom him.

Blue-grey eyes watched the girl as she played, wondering at the innocence of youth, a memory that no longer existed. She smiled carefully, not letting her fangs show. The girl might look over and see them, and then she would be gone. A soft rumble sounded in the distance, marking the coming of rain. Laine looked up at the sky, gauging how long she had to get home. The rain would ruin the grey velvet dress she was wearing and she did not want to try and find another one.
The girl's voice made her look back down and she noticed a young man crouching next to her. 'Daddy'? He barely looked out of diapers himself, but then again, being over a century old ages one quite differently, and the world is not the same afterwards. She watched as the girl made a fuss over having to leave. She raised a delicate hand to her mouth, but a soft chuckle escaped anyway. Children were all the same.

Tybalt grunted softly, lifting the squirming girl in his arms and hugging her tight. "Bear hug!" She screeched, pounding on his back with small fists. He laughed huskily. "Silly." "Lemme goooo...."
Setting her down he sighed, supposed they could stay a little longer. He didn't have any appointments and it wasn't like he had a boss to tell him to get back. The dark haired girl scowled as he fixed her pony tails, before she spotted the young woman on the bench and waved.
"She doesn't wanna play with you Hai," He huffed, poking her nose before lifting her onto the swing. "Push," She huffed stubbornly. "Pweaasee daddy?"

Even if the man was young, at least he loved his daughter, or seemed to. Just because he was affectionate in public meant nothing once he was behind closed doors. Maybe she would find out later. She made a mental note to check it out later and returned to watching the girl play. She escaped her father's bear hug only to be stilled so he could fix her hair. It was cute to see her expressions.
The little one waved at her and as she lifted a hand in response the father chided her gently. It was so easy to hear every little word said, but it took effort to not listen in on his conversation with his daughter. She crossed her legs and adjusted her dress, never letting the parasol dip. Even the faint sunlight would leave her burnt for days, or until she fed again. It was such a nuisance being a vampire. The perks did not always make up for the downfalls. Again, faint thunder interrupted her thoughts and she growled softly at the sky, hating that she would be caught in the rain.

Tybalt eyed the woman from where he stood behind the swing, getting Hailie started then leaning against the metal bar, pyshing her every once in awhile when she started to complain about not being high enough.
When he was sure the wind wouldn't blow smoke in her face he lit up a cigarette, gazing boredky out past the park. "Looks like it's gonna rain Hai-hai.."

Seeing the man start to smoke she felt a desire to join him. She pulled a slim silver cigarette case from her pocket and chose one, placing it between pale, full lips as she returned the case to her pocket and fished out a lighter. She inhaled the smoke with a sigh of pleasure. It was nice to not have to worry about the side affects smoking caused like normal people did. Through a haze of blue smoke she watched the child on the swings. When she had been a child she would pretend she could fly as her nanny had pushed her higher and higher. It had all been make believe though, like this game humans called life.
As she remembered her past a fat rain drop splatted onto the black parasol and shattered her daydreams. She didn't even bother to look up as she stood and readjusted her hold on the parasol as she tried to shield herself from the worst of the rain.

Tybalt glanced up at the first few drops of rain, chewing on the tip of his cigarette thoughtfully. The woman was still sitting on the bench and he glared warily again.
"Hailie it's raining," He murmured. "Stop daddy stop!" She squeeled, words still somewhat hard to understand considering her age. He stopped the swing and she scrambled off, teetering on feet as she moved forward, falling. Instead of the struggle of getting up, she crawled to the middle of the playground, collapsing dramatically in the wood chips with a giggle, hiding her face from the rain.

Laine noticed the wary glance and she could not help but to smirk at him. He had no idea how truly dangerous she was, but she was not after children, so there was no worry at that end. He on the other hand should worry. She was fond of men when she fed, especially attractive men, and she could not lie to herself and say he was not. She felt the hunger that coursed her veins 24/7 raise it's ugly head and bare it's teeth in desperation. It pained her to go this long, and she knew now that she must feed tonight.
It took effort not to fly at the male as she approached the little girl who had run towards the middle of the park. She crouched down next to her as she buried her face in wood chips and leaned the parasol slightly to cover the girl's upper body as well. "You should be getting inside little one, you'll catch a chill in this rain." She held her hand out to the girl to help her stand.

Tybalt tebsed as the woman approached his kid, snuffing out his cigarette. He wouldn't act out in front of her though, picked her up with a hard stare. She'd sheilded her from the rain, maybe that's all she had planned to do.
He started towards his truck without a backward glance. Being as the back seat was only a bench, he strapped her in the front in her car seat, even if it was a risk, glanced over at the woman a moment.
A normal, friendly person would have asked if she had a place to go. He ran a hand through his damp hair. "Stay away from my kid, yeah?"
