When the father snatched the little girl up she did not react, only withdrew her hand before standing as well. Everybody reacted the same when she was near their children. Maybe on a deep, instinctual level, they could sense the deadly predator that lay within her.
She stuck her free hand into her pocket as the two walked back towards the truck, ignoring the wind that was picking up, pulling at her skirt insistently. She had given up on saving the dress, and even allowed the parasol to fall to the side. With deft motions she closed it to keep the inside dry and looked towards the truck the man had placed his daughter into.
Laine flashed a smile, perfect porcelain teeth revealed, at him. Years of practice had taught her how to smile without revealing her fangs to anyone. Pulling her hand from her pocket to brush a pale strand of hair out of her face, she fixed him with a cold stare. "I meant no harm."

"Huh," Tybalt grunted. "Well I have a job to get back to." He rounded the old truck, shut the drivers door and twisted the key in the ignition. It revved some and died. "Dammit!" Palms met the steering wheel and he looked at his daughter. "Don't repeat what daddy just said," He muttered, getting out. He fixed cars every day, sold them, but didn't have the money for a decent one himself.
"Piece of shit," He hissed, kicking the tire before yanking the hood up, coughing at the smoke. "Fuck," He mumbled, bending over the engine.

This man was cold, callous. She preferred sweeter meat in all honestly. She watched as he shut the door on her and began to turn. She would watch him awhile, see if his daughter had someone else before going after him. She could not stomach leaving a child an orphan, like she had been.
As she began to walk away her ears picked up the truck door opening again, then the man kicking the tire, the squeak of the hood raising up. Car trouble. Perfect. She turned on her heel and headed back, waving at the little girl as she got closer. "Could I be of assistance?" She may not look it, but she had run a stint of working in a garage some years ago. She doubted her knowledge could be so outdated as to be useless. Then again, this man was probably too stubborn to accept help, even if he needed it.

Tybalt glanced up at her eild mild interest, nothing but apathy. He didn't respond, just handed her a part, his hands already smudged with grease. "Hold that." Teeth gritted as he reached further back, leaning over to spit before he grunted faintly, twisting something and stepping back.
He took the part from her again, stooping once more to put it back in place, listening to Hailie babble from within the far dryer car.

She took the part without complaint, noting with mild interest the grease that streaked her alabaster skin, like shadows in the light. It seemed to make her skin brighter, the paleness more noticeable. She looked instead to the man, watching as he worked with quiet precision, as if he had done this hundreds of times. The grease she had noticed under his nails earlier seemed to support that, as did the muscles on his arms. One could always tell the difference between muscles bought with a gym membership and muscles earned with hard work.
He took the part from her brusquely, and if she could have blushed, she just might have, revealing what she had been daydreaming about. As he fit the part back into place she brushed some more hair out of her face, cursing the fact that the wind had torn it from the loose braid it had been in. She didn't even notice the dark streak her hand had left on her forehead as she leaned forward to watch the father work.

Tybalt huffed, dusting his hands off on already grease smeared jeans. Then he passed her his keys. "Start the engine," He mumbled, seeming wary about his actions but trusting her enough with Hailie in the car. Hailie was...surprisingly tough for her age. When he talked with his mom about a year ago she told him to blame his father. He didn't quite get the irony of it.
Eyeing the engine he waited for her to start it so he could make sure everything was running right.

With downcast eyes she took the keys and mumbled an affirmative as she spun away to climb into the truck. She wrenched open the door and climbed in, shoving the key into the ignition. She had offered to help, he could be a little nicer. The babbling of the little girl drew her attention and she smiled and made a face at the girl. She was cute, with her little brown pigtails and toothy grin. She could see the resemblance in her face to her father.
She hopped out of the car back into the rain and plodded back to the front of the truck, cursing as she planted her foot in a puddle, soaking her heel and stockings. So much for a good day. Her entire outfit was ruined, she was dirty, and soaked. She praised whatever god existed that she couldn't get sick, not matter how cold and wet she got.

Tybalt sighed, running a hand through dripping hair. "It'll last back to the lot," He mumbled, shrugging. Water ran down his forehead and trickled down his face.
"Need a ride?" He still stared at her warily, but owed her something since he didn't plan on paying her for standing in the rain helping.

"Where are you going?" She didn't want to walk home in the rain, but at the same time, being in such close quarters with a human could push her over the edge. Plus, what if they got wherever they were going and he wanted reimbursement for the ride, or ruining his seats since she was soaked? She barely made any money at the tattoo parlor, and what she did make went straight to her pretties. She had a weakness for shiny things, so much so she had wasted multiple fortunes on a houseful of them. As long as the drive to wherever he was going wasn't far, she would accept his offer, then take the bus from there.

"Just up the road, car lot." He shook out his hair, running a hand over the scruff along his chin.
He yanked the door open for her to get into the back, then climbed in after shutting the hood, started the thing up an pulled out.
