"Come on, Monroe. Wake up." His dad said, shaking his shoulder. Monroe looked up at him, asked what time it was. His Dad told him, and he nodded, going upstairs to shower and get dressed. His mom dropped him off, complaining it was too long to walk. He sighed, not really wanting to be here. Not with family.

He raised his hand to the door, knocking on it slowly.

Adaleah opened the door at the knock, smiled faintly and ushered him in. "He's in his room.. Down the hall.." She murmured.

Zain was curled up toghtly,, breaths quick in his sleep. He stirred as the door opened and closed, but didn't wake up.

Monroe nodded, making his way down to Zain's room. He sat down behind him, leaning over to kiss his cheek gently. He ran a hand through his hair, hoping it would ease him up. He leaned over the bed, folding his arms over his legs as he looked down, his wet hair hanging in his face. He had been too lazy to blow dry it, and knew straightening it would take too long. So he figured he could deal with wavy hair for the time being. It wasn't like Zain hadn't seen him completely broken in the hospital, or naked.

Zain stirred faintly at the touch, rolling over sleepily to gaze at him. "Mm..." He mumbled, then bit his lip as everything came back. He swallowed, looking away, but reached for Monroe's hand anyway.

Monroe took his hand loosely, this other arm still across his leg. He didn't bother looking up, wasn't really in the mood for getting hit again. His jaw hurt where Zain had slapped him, and Monroe wondered if he would have to get it set for the second time in the last month. He played with the piercing in his lip, looking blankly at the floor. Something told him this wouldn't be the end of it.

There was a reason Zain couldn't hold down a relationship even when he wanted to. His anger, and any time he drank, he became abusive. He'd been so careful with Monroe... But he'd just kind of snapped. And probably fucked everything up, too. He sat up slowly, gently kissing his jaw amd cheek where he had struck Jim, but didn't say a word.

Monroe tilted his head towards him at the kisses, but didn't bother looking up. Zain had been so cold to him, acting like he didnt even want him. Why should Monroe care? But he did. Which was his problem.

"Morning.." He mumbled, his eyes tracing over the floor. He couldn't help thinking about Zain, every kiss they had shared, every touch. He opened his mouth to say something, then closed it again, remembering where talking had gotten him last time.

"Morning.." Zain breathed, biting his lipgl guiltily as he watched him. "Monroe baby..look at me.." He breathed, reaching for his chin and turning his face towards him. But he didn't know what to say, kissed him hesitantly on the lips. "I'm so sorry.."

Monroe kissed him back gently, biting his lip as he pulled away. It wasn't that he was angry or scared, but hurt. "I'm just as lost about this relationship thing as you, Zain.. But I do know that it's you I want to be with. Because I never cared so much about anyone.. I just-... It hurts.. It shouldn't but it does.." He mumbled, picking at the skin around one of his nails.

"No..you have every right for it to hurt.." He reached out and took his hand gently. "I-.." He let out a shaky breath. "You're not the first person I've physically hurt... But you are the first person I've started to fall in love with Monroe.. I-..it scares me.."
