Monroe laid back beside him, looking over at him. "Promise me you aren't going to be so cold to me.. I don't even care that you hurt me, Zain.. Just please don't pretend you don't care.. That's what hurts the worst.." He leaned over, kissing his cheek before looking over at him. "I don't like when you're mad at me.."

[zain marshal rhoston]

"I know..." He breathed. "And I'm sorry.. I just..have a hard time controlling my anger. You've seen what drugs and alcohol do to me...I wouldn't have let those girls go kissing on me if I have been sober, Monroe... Right now you mean the world to me...I don't want to ruin that for anything, babe..." He played gently with his fingers. "I promise I'll try to be better to you, okay..? I promise."

Monroe looked over at him, not sure whether or not to believe him. He reached up, gently stroking his cheek. "As long as you're gonna try.." He said quietly, chewing on his lip. He ran a hand gently through his hair, looking over at him. For some reason, he still felt hesitant about believing him. Something told him it would be a long while before Zain gave up on women and other men.

Zain carefully drew him closer so as not to hurt him, yawned. He gazed over at him s moment, playing with his empty mug, then set it side. "Did you want to go do something..?"

"Not really.. I didn't even bother doing my hair, so.." He shrugged, turning over onto his side. He closed his eyes, tucking his other arm under the pillow. He honestly just wanted to leave and pretend today never happened, that the day at the mall never happened. It just seemed easier that way, because both of them knew that Zain changing was a stretch. 'Of all the people to fall for..' He thought, opening his eyes to look at the wall, tears stinging his eyes.

Zain bit his lip. "Why won't you look at me?" He mumbled guiltily, sorrow in his voice.

'He doesn't need to. You're a fucking monster. Whore.'

His eyebrows furrowed, working his jaw and looking around. But nobody was there.

Monroe sighed, turning over. "Because I'm not supposed to lay on one side too long. Happy?" He looked up at him, folding his hands over his stomach. He reached up, pushing a wavy strand of hair out of his face. His jaw was still hurting, and he was sure he was going to have it set again. He started rubbing where Zain had hit him, working his jaw. 'Fuck.. This hurts..' He thought, reaching into his pockets to see if he had his pain medicine on him.

"I was just asking," He mumbled dejectedly. "You don't have to get pissy with me.." He looked away as Monroe rubbed at his jaw, swallowing, and finally turned away anyway, curling up close to the edge of the bed by himself.

'What's wrong? Sad that he can't love you?'

"I'm getting pissy because I'm in pain, Zain! I haven't had my medicine today. My foot hurts from you shoving me down on the bench and my jaw hurts from you slapping the fuck out of me and my back hurts from sleeping on the damn swing when I got home because I was crying too fucking hard to get up the damn stairs. I have a right to be pissy." He said, turning away from him again as he started crying, wrapping his arms around himself. 'I don't know why I stay. This is as pointless as a pencil with an eraser at each end..' He thought, reaching into his pocket again. But he didn't have his medicine on him.

Zain swallowed. "I'm sorry..." He choked.

'You couldn't treat him right even if you tried. You should leave him alone.'

He rolled over, rubbing his back gently, and bent to softly kiss his tears away. "I never should have hurt you..." He whispered, letting out a shaky breath. "You want me to go find you some painkillers...?"

'No, leave dumbshit. He has no reason to care about you. You can't fix this.'
