"Dakota.. Baby, come see.." She said, hating to hear him whine. It broke her heart. He was like the kid she never had. She knelt down beside him, hugging the massive dog gently. She slowly ran her hand down his back, kissing the top of his head. "Go see daddy, okay?"

Rex leaned down and petted him gently. "It's okay boy..." He whispered softly, leading them inside. He set the phone on his desk, waiting for the coroner to go and get a better look.

Blake got up and followed them in, sitting down so she could go through the papers she was working on. She specialized in cold cases, but they didn't have as many as other cities might. Most of their cold cases were hundreds of years old. She yawned, rubbing at her eyes. She just wanted to sleep, honestly.

Rex sat down quietly, chewing on his lip as he waited for the coroner so he could start typing up a report. He patted Dakota gently, leaning back in his chair.

Blake rubbed her face, looking up as someone came and dropped a packet of papers on her desk. Most of them were pictures, but the top was what they'd been waiting on. "Fingerprints said the kid is Jayson Christopher." She said, flipping through the pictures. But then her supervisor was coming in.

"Blake, you need to get to work on Wanted posters." He said, dropping another packet into her lap. She looked it over, biting her lip.

"This kid is twenty. You're really thinking he'd kill his boyfriend?" She asked, trying not to let it show how much the idea bothered her.

"His stuff was at the crime scene. He left his wallet there. The last person he talked to was the kid on ice. Get to work, Aldridge." He said and she yawned, pulling up a blank poster template.

"It's gonna be a long day.." She mumbled, realizing she'd been up and working for sixteen hours.

Rex flinched at the name, swallowing. He shouldn't be working on a case of a victim he knew. A shaky breath passed his lips. Suddenly there was a guy barging in demanding to see his brother. He got up with the other officer and led the two back, sneaking away as they identified it, could hear Cory and the guy crying. Chewing on his lips, he avoided everyone until their parents came and finally they all left. Then he began to type up reports, clearly bothered.

Blake worked on the posters, then sent them to her supervisor. She honestly didn't believe that Nevada would have hurt his boyfriend. It didn't make any sense. She yawned, laying her head down on her desk as she closed her eyes. She had a feeling this case was going to be bothersome, especially if she wasn't the only one thinking his boyfriend wouldn't hurt him.

"I shouldn't be taking his case..I shouldn't fucking take this case.." Rex mumbled a good two hours later after finishing the search report. He scowled. "Jayson..of all god damn people." He got up to go use the bathroom, came back a few minutes later and sighed. "No way in hell did his boyfriend kill him."

"Everyone dies, Rex.. And I know it doesn't make anything better but it's true.." She mumbled. She know it didn't help, but she wasn't sure what else to say. "I don't think he did it either, Rex.. I really don't.. But it's a lead, I guess.." She gently pulled him over, kissing his chest before she let him go. "Go home, okay? Get some sleep."

"Not everyone gets murdered though. Or put to sleep like some, /animal/." He huffed as she kissed his chest. "I'm not tired.." He set a spare house key on her desk and got up, grabbing Dakota's desk, hit the doorframe with his shoulder on the way out. "Ow! Fuck! Dakota, outside," He muttered, wishing to get home as soon as possible. Walking meant to much time to think.
