"I'll get it for you in a second." She said, patting his hand gently. She was always afraid he would burn himself. She walked over to the wall they had changed to a bullitan board. She started pulling off old pictures, putting the tacks in a neat line as she tossed them into the shredder. She started putting up the new pictures, looking at them a second before walking into the break room where Garrison grabbed her ass. She was grateful she got to work next to Rex, and not him. She fixed Rex his coffee, popping his lid on.
"He can do it." Garrison told her.
"I know he can. But unlike you, he actually respects me. And he appreciates the little things, like not seeing the pictures of me you took in the shower." She watched his face drop and knew it was him who did it. She fixed her own coffee, grabbing a dog treat from the cabinet before walking back. She smiled at Dakota, moving around him.
"I know! Treats!" She said excitedly, setting her coffee down. She gave the dog his treat, then took Rex's hand, putting the coffee in it.
"It's hot, okay?" She said softly, patting his leg before walking back over to the board. She crossed her arms, tapping her foot. "Hm.."

Rex returned to working on reports until an in feild problem came up. He wasn't on call today though, picked up. As Blake returned he smiled without glancing towards her voice, offered a soft hum and a huffed thanks, took a sip of the hot liquid and set it where he could reach it again. He let go of Dakota, the dog curling up further out of the way happily with the treat.
"-...Hang on, he's running? And you have a tracker. Yeah, sure. Log it into the base." Fingers flew blindly over the keys, a gps map popping up, voice explaining roads and location every few seconds. "That's up on Alder..the way they're moving, they only have two choices. Through the parking lot of the college or the other road. Get guys on both sides ready and he doesn't have much a chance."
He lowered the volume of the computer so the annoying tacker couldn't be heard as much, leaned back and took a sip of his coffee.

Blake flipped on a lamp where she was so she could see better, listening quietly to Rex ramble things off. She had been on the other end of that call before, more than once. And it always amazed her how he could do what he did. She walked back to her desk, picking up the case files and bringing them back, dropping them on the long table against the wall. She opened them up, pinning the details under each picture.
"Aldridge." She turned around and saw her superior standing there.
"Sir?" She walked over to him and he started talking to her in a hushed voice, about Garrison being taken off the case. "So who do you want to take his place?"
"I can do stake alone.." She said, crossing her arms. She knew that would mean her weekend plans being thrown out the window, but maybe Rex could come sit with her awhile.
"No, you need to pick a field agent to go with you." He insisted, and she tapped her pen on the desk.
"I don't need a field agent.. I don't need a probie, I don't need anyone trailing after me. As long as I have Rex on the other end of the call, I'm fine.." She said quietly, looking back towards him.
"Pick someone." He told her and walked away. She walked back to the pictures, then groaned.
"Rex." She whispered. "Toss me a highlighter."

Rex could heartheir hushed voices easily, but turned his attention to the headset so as not to pry. He heard a scuffle over the radio and smirked. "Got him.." He murmured under his breath as the superior left. "Bring the kid in for questioning and I'll see if I can get him to talk-" A gunshot went off, Rex wincing visibly even if Blake wouldn't hear the sound.
He heard her request and fished around, fingers brushing the familiar shape. The highlighter landed on her desk as he stood, grabbing at the cane, and disappeared into the front. "Hey! Officer down on Alder, we need back up." Instantly there was a shuffle up front.

Blake grabbed the highlighter, and was highlighting things about each of the cases that were similar when she heard Rex get up. She saw Dakota get up, and called him over, petting him slowly.
"Yeah, I know. You're such a good doggie, yes." She squatted down, letting the dog put his head in her lap. She scratched behind it's ears, stroked him gently with her other hand before Rex returned. She felt bad, thinking that all because she had distracted him for a minute, that officer could be fine. She let Dakota go, watching him walk happily back to Rex. She went back to highlighting things, then called the profilist. She told him to keep quiet, that Rex was working. They worked on a profile for the rapist before they finally came up with something they could settle on. She waited for him to come back with her copy, then pinned it up. She knew Rex would need it, God forbid anything happen to her. So she patiently typed it for him in Braille, then slipped it under his hand without a word.

Rex returned with a gusty breath, sitting down as he heard the front door close and sirens start up. He rubbed between the large dog's ears a moment, able to concentrate perfectly find from the murmurs between the two next to him.
His hand tapped impatiently on the desk, clearly bothered by whoever had taken the shot, sightless blue eyes troubled. Another voice crackled over the radio and he clicked on his mic again, adjusting his headset.
"Roadblock the streets once the ambulece leaves," He mumbled, feeling Blake slide the textured material beneath his hand. Fingertips briefly ran over it to figure out what it was and he slid it in front of him, sitting back in the chair. "Wecan't let him run. Just get the damn kid back here and catch the guy yeah?" He scowled some. The computer monitor beeped at him again and he huffed. "He's in the park."
Again silence for several minutes. After a bit he relaxed some. Mic was flicked off. "Caught that kidnapper.." He mumbled to Blake, leaning firward, fingers again brushing the Braille before him. He lowered the volume on his headset and reached for the cell phone lying on his desk, a simple flip phone considering only calls would make do for anything. Number positions memorized, he dialed and brought it to his ear.
"Hey, Blake got the rapist profiled, we'll get it in the database and see if we can pull up a match at all." He snapped it shut, set it aside. Rex was probably one of the only ones to refer to her first name. Maybe because they were together more than the officers. Didn't really matter, considering he didn't even have a last name to go by. T-rex, a little something the older guys had adopted. He smirked faintly at the thought before running a hand through his hair. "Officer Rick was shot.." He breathed. The guy was in his late thirties early fourties. He had been working since before they found Rex and had really helped him straighten things out, had helped him learn to cope with his sight. Jeston Ricks was the last face Rex could remember seeig, and even that memory faded as the days went by, every image harder and harder to cling to. He had been blind now longer than he had ever had sight. And the times he could see, he had no recollection of at all.

Blake fell silent, dropping the papers beside her. She knew how much the officer meant to Rex, knew what a good person he was. She walked over to him, running her fingers gently through his hair. She leaned down, wrapping her arms gently around his shoulders.
"After you get off, I'll bring you to the hospital, okay?" She offered quietly, rubbing his chest gently. She buried her face in his neck, hugging him loosely. She heard her computer go off a few times with potential matches, then a message pop up on the screen. She walked over slowly, realizing there were only a few people left in the building. She pulled her magazine from her desk, slipping it into her gun until it locked. She sat it beside her computer, then looked up at the message. She quickly typed back, then started going through the matches, printing them out. She pinned them up on the board, then tore one down.
"Can't be him." She mumbled, looking at the other five before her computer went off again, then her phone, then her pager. She ignored them, tapping her fingers on the table.
"All these girls have nothing in common except their weights.." She mumbled, beginning to think this was a hate crime. She started scribbling on a sheet of paper when her phone rang.
"Aldridge." She started printing out the other matches, one catching her eye. "No, they're all less than a hundred pounds.." She mumbled, tacking up the others before hanging up the phone.
"Ugh, I need a break." She moaned.

Rex drew in a slow breath and let it out at the hug. "It's not fatal," He murmured. He couldn't let it get to him while on duty though. Listening to the shuffle of papers he sighed, leaning forward on elbows. "I agree on the break.." He breathed. "Check medical records for the girls Blake, see if they all had eating disorders or something. It might lead us somewhere. Then check the records of the potentials you have."
There was a knock against the back room wall. "Rex." He grabbed the cane, making his way towards the call. "Yeah?" "This is Matthew, he's nine." Rex nodded, smiling sightlessly, and gently took the boys hand. "Hey Matthew, you like dogs?"
The boy made no verbal reply. "I can't see nothin' little man, you'll have to talk." He pointed at cliuded blue eyes. "Yes.." The boy whispered. "Dakota," Rex called, hearing the Dane approach. Dakota nudged his hand, leash held loose in his mouth, and Rex took it.
The boy giggled, pulling his hand away to pet the dog before taking Rex's again. "Come on, let's have a little chat and then we'll get you back with mom and dad yeah?"
He led him to one of the questioning rooms, closing the door so it fell ajar just a crack. He located the couch, this being a more family friendly room, and sat down, grunting as he hoisted the boy up too.
"It's okay to be scared or sad Matthew okay? I went blind at your age, was real hard to deal with, but if you're as strong as me you'll be fine. Now start from the begining and explain what happened okay? Then we can keep it from happening again."
His friendly composure made it easy for him to get young victims to talk, and soon the boy wasaughing at some of Rex's antics, was back to himself when on of the officers rang in at the front desk that his parents were here.

Blake sat down at her computer, looking over at the little boy. She smiled at him, then started printing out forms to get their medical records. She sat there for a good while, slowly filling out the forms. She walked them to her superior, who signed that he agreed that the request was approved by him. She walked over to her desk, grabbing her car keys and her gun, slipping her holster onto her belt. She put the gun into it, then walked over to one of the officers at the door.
"Tell Rex I went to go get medical records, okay?" She said quietly, and he nodded. She watched him with the boy for a second, then went out to her car. She slid in with the forms, and was about to put the keys into the car ignition when she felt someone wrap their arm around her neck, pinning her to the seat. She groaned, reaching for her gun, but it was gone, the cold metal pressed to her head.
"Get out." He told her, and she carefully slid out of the car, setting the forms in her seat. She put her hands on her head, lacing her fingers together.
"I don't have anything on me." She said quietly, and he shoved her against the car, covering her mouth with his hand. She bit his hand, turning around to knee him in the groin. He doubled over and she took back her gun, grabbing him by the arm. She slammed him against the car. He shoved her backwards, sending the gun skittering across the pavement.
"DAKOTA!" She screamed, praying the dog would hear her. "DA-" He slammed her head into the pavement, leaving her unconscious.

Rex signed the boy out with his parents, sending them off to get cleared with one of the officers. Dakota's ears pricked, picking up on the sound unlike any humanoid. A growl rumbled in his throat. "What is it boy?" He let him tug him out the side door so as not to alert others, and around the corner, Dakota whimpered, pulled sharply with a snarl. Rex dropped the leash, the massive dog bounding away easily. Something thudded to the ground as Rex fumbled with his gun, loaded it moments before Dakota's sharp warning barks rang into the air to alert the others. The front door opened and Rex knew the others had heard, attention sharp, listening. The cane at his hip was freed. Dakota had the threat secured but Rex wasn't sure if the guy was armed.
Didn't matter. Hell, waking up every day was a risk for him. He nudged a figure on the ground, crouched. Fingers brushed the fine hair, grazed the emtpy gun holster and the id at her side.
"Blake," He breathed in a groan. Lovely. He lifted her in his arms, eliminating any way to know where he was going, leaning against the car. "Hey! Let's get some help over here!"
