Monroe smiled, reaching over to run his fingers through the little white hairball's fur. Cap'n shook his little tail, nudging Monroe's hand with his wet nose. Monroe picked him up, moving closer to Zain. "He's really good company. He doesn't talk and he likes to snuggle." He said with a smile. "But he does steal your kisses." He teased.

Zain smirked. "Nobody can beat my kisses," He insisted, leaning over to give him one. He rested his head on Monroe's shoulder, an arm draped over him loosely, careful to avoid his broken ribs.

Monroe smiled, kissing him deeply. "I didn't say he beat them. I say he steals them. No one's a better kisser than you." He said with a smile, pulling Zain's arm tighter around him. He moved as close as he could get, lacing their fingers together. He held Cap'n in his other arm. He leaned up, kissing him slowly.

Zain smirked, then smiled at him. He closed his eyes, drawing in a content breath, nothing of his odd attitude there from before. It had surfaced out of nowhere yesterday, he'd never had that happen before. Sure, he was sick enough as it was. But voices and panic and anger like that without any drugs or booze? Never.

Monroe smiled, looking down at Cap'n. "Daddy's stealing your spot tonight. You okay with that?" He asked, and the dog barked. He shrugged, laying the dog on his chest. He curled up on his chest, and Monroe reached over to gently trace his fingers over Zain's jaw.

"Hm.." Zain huffed softly, a smile passing his lips. He didn't open his eyes, body relaxed in his nestled position against Monroe. He ran his fingers slowly up and down his side.

Monroe leaned back, listening to the rest of the family packing. Most would wonder why the other three went on so many trips while Monroe stayed home. And that's when Monroe would explain that they often took trips to places with tall buildings and high balconies, and he would be too tempted to jump. Which he had actually done on vacation once. That's why all the bedroom doors were locked when they left, and the only thing his balcony could possibly lead into was the pool.

"Monroe! We're leaving!" His mother called.

"Kay. Don't die." He called back. Dash came in to give him a kiss on the forehead and kiss the puppy before she left out. It wasn't long before Lucas came into the room.

"Can I watch a movie?"

"They're in my closet." Monroe said, and Luc walked over to the closet, looking over the shelves before he picked one.

"You want pizza?"

"No. I want chinese. What do you want?" He asked, kissing Zain's head.

"Mm, I don't care," Zain murmured, kissing his shoulder. It still hurt, knowing Monroe wanted to die. But at the same time, he did too, and he supposed it was no different. He shifted his weight some, head back on Monroe's chest as he watched Lucas quietly.

"We're getting chinese." Monroe said.

"I can't eat Chinese, Monroe. You know that."

"You can't eat pizza either, snaggletooth." He retorted and Lucas sighed. It was clear the boy was terrified of Monroe, even if Monroe couldn't do anything in his current condition. "Fine. Get you pizza and get us subs."

"Can I hold it?" He asked, pointing to the puppy.

"Don't drop it." Monroe said, and Luc picked Cap'n up carefully, sitting on the bed.

"Aw.. Hi puppy. He looks like a puff ball." Luc said, moving to sit on the floor with it.

Zain listened to them faintly, opening his eyes to watch Lucas. 'He's gonna steal your boy. He's so much better than you. Anybody is.'
Zain's teeth clenched and he worked his jaw, trying to ignore the voice. The simple fact that it was there in the first place is what bothered him most right now.
