Laine watched him curiously. What a shock it must be to find out you weren't what you thought. It had been different for her. She had always known she was a monster, there was no way to be in denial of that when you had to drain people dry to live. Not for the first time in her years she wished she was human, to live out her short days in blissful naivete. To love, to marry, to have children. Tybalt would have so much more than she could have, and now he was safe from her.
She stood and took the mug to him, "drink. It will help calm you some." It was a special tea she made herself with herbs to help her relax. She wondered how she should tell him he was not safe from the other monsters in this town though. Didn't he have enough to deal with?

Tybalt gazed at her quietly, taking the tea, unsure. But she was drinking it, it could only be safe...right? Mumbling a halfhearted thanks, he dropped into a chair, bringing it to his lips and taking a hesitant sip, then a more sure one.
He glance her way a moment, working his jaw.

"Tybalt, I," what was she supposed to say? There were no words to take back what she had done. Really though, why should she? She had to eat, just like everyone else, and he just happened to be unlucky enough to have been chosen. She looked up through her lashes at him, studying him. He was perfect, someone who should be handed everything he wanted, and yet, he wasn't. Why?
Changing the subject she asked about his parents. Curiosity as to what he was was tugging at the edge of her mind.

Tybalt glanced up when she first spoke, then looked away. How had he been so stupid? He never should have made that call...
"They travel a lot.." He shrugged. "Left when I dropped out and moved out the house." He continued working on the tea, absently touched at his tied throat some.
He stirred the tea some with a distracted expression.

"Tch. Baka." She stared intently into her tea, as if it might hold some answer to the riddle. She slammed her palms onto the table as she stood, the sudden movement almost knocking over the chair. Shirttails waving she went into the living room to look for something. Rattling could be heard as she shoved valuables out of the way to find her objective. When she came back into the kitchen she had a stack of bills that she threw in front of him. Her voice was cold and harsh as she spoke, "that should be enough to replace the carpet, and the mattress if need be." Her eyes were almost back to their normal steel-blue color, and they were hard and flat as she looked down at him.

Tybalt tensed at her sudden anger. "I don't need your money," He muttered warily. "I get along just fine by myself okay? I'm used to living off what I can scrape up." He shrugged faintly, uneasy.
Licking at his lips he took a longer swallow of the tea, finishing it off, trying to understand the sudden anger.

"And you scraped this up by going through what you did tonight." Her voice did not change, remained emotionless, but deep down, there was anger, fear, regret. It would have been easier if he had fallen before her like so many others, but he had been spared, and now must deal with the fallout. "Take the damned money. It's not like I need it." She waved a hand, drawing his attention to the valuables and antiques that she kept in her home. Five husbands she had gone through, five fortunes she had amassed to take care of herself. She wanted for nothing, nothing but humanity, something she would never get. "And if you don't want it, use it for your daughter. Give her a better life."

Tybalt gritted his teeth some, debated on just taking it. And then she spoke again. "My daughter dos have a better life," He snapped. "The one that has nothing to do with me okay?! I can't even keep my fucking child Lillaine. But you think I plan on bowing to pity or judgement then you're wrong.

"Don't be so damned stubborn! Don't you think that if you can prove you can take care of her the judge might let you see her more? Or give her to you?" She wanted to slap him for being so blind, but she had touched a sensitive subject, and he might hit back. She snarled at him with contempt, fangs flashing. Would he not even let her apologize in the only way she could? Let her clear her conscious?
She looked at him after she spoke, let the words sink in. She regretted now not at least kissing him before she tried to feed. His lips were perfect, and the structure of his face, chiseled jawbones and perfectly proportioned, he could have been a god.

Tybalt winced at the words. "Fine, I'lltake your damned money," He snapped. "No way in hell will I ever get her more than a week every month. I work at a fucking dealership. In a trailer. It does nothing for me..."
He traced a masculine finger along the rim of the cup distantly. "Now the shit's really gonna hit the fan..."
