Zach watched her duck into the store, and he lowered his head, mumbling to himself and continuing to walk slowly, not willing to deal with the peopl. He heard her come back and glanced at her in clear surprise. But suddenly he was more thankful than a child on Christmas, actually smiled. "Thank you..." He breathed, taking the things, careful not to ever touch her. He eyed the sub, unwrapping it carefully and taking a bite. He would probably give the rest of the food up to the other two, always told them he ate just as much even if he usually went hungry on the nights that there wasn't enough to go all around.

Gryphon smiled sweetly after his face lit up. "Your welcome," She handed the things over, watching as he avoided her hands. "It's not everyday you bump into someone who expects nothing from you." Which was true, probably why she had no friends. She wasn't much for neediness. 'You want it, go get it.' Was her normal attitude, but there were a few cases where she did let her guard down. "I probably would've gotten blankets, but they didn't have any.." She shoved her hands back into her pocket as they walked along. "There's a couple drinks.. mostly water because it doesn't taste as bad when it's hot.. Plus it's better than soda 'cause all that does is dehydrate you.." She watched him shortly, before looking ahead to the street lamps. Bugs buzzed around them like a crowded club, some ventured too close. "So, why do avoid touching people?" Gryphon asked, trying to regain focus.

Zacharias peered down into the bag, mood far brighter now. He slid the loops over his hand, working on the sub quietly, careful not to make hiself look like to much of a pig. At her question, however, he hesitated. "Just don't like it.." The way he said it, though, there was obviously more. And he clearly wanted to spill it but didn't know how. He rubbed at his chest again, the odd gaps between ribs.

"If you say so, buttt let me give you somewhat of a proposal," A sneaky smile passed over her lips, "There's what? A small chance of you seeing me.. again, since you move from town to town. So, what if you tell me and I tell you something, if you want to know anything." Her voice seemed to sadden at the news of not seeing him again. He was a pretty nice guy to be around. He didn't seem to mind her rambling or the few rude comments she had made previously. Her eyebrow perked up for a bit, waiting for a response.

Zach hesitated, working his jaw. Then he did something he never thought he would ever do. He switched the sub to his other hand and took her own, bringing it to his chest. His heart was racing, eyes uneasy and breaths quick clearly terrified by her touch. Tracing her hand down his torso, it was made clear of several missing ribs on his left side, a few more on his right. He let her hand go, shrinking back some. He started on his sub again, working his jaw. "My father snapped them and took them out.." He whispered. "I was nine, 'wake the entire time.. Not the only thing 'ever did.."

Her expression changed to shock as he reached for her hand. It made her nervous, unsure of what he was doing as he placed it on his chest. "I.. I'm.." But she knew her apology wouldn't mean anything, it wasn't her that did it. "That's horrible.." Gryphon watched him shrink away, but her emotions got the best of her. Stopping, her hand grabbed his, pulling him into a hug. She was careful not to knock the sub away. Letting go, she began to walk again as if nothing had happened. "I'm sorry.. I shouldn't have hugged you.." She apologized quickly, and softly. Her eyes casted downward as they walked, not wanting to see what he did next.

Zach shrugged a bit. "You wanted to know why I don't like people.." He whispered. It wasn't the worst thing done to him, either. He tensed as his arm was grabbed, eyes flashing, and he bared faintly sharp teeth, breaths quick at the hug. He looked away from her, but willed himself not to run as she apologized. She hadn't had intentions of hurting him..right?

Gryphon sighed, walking quietly by his side. She was unsure of what to do or say. It seemed like anything she could come up with would just be stupid. Her hand reached into her pocket, pulling out a coin. It moved through her fingers with ease, her eyes concentrating on the small glimmer that appeared each time a light hit it. "Well.. do you want to know anything about me?.." Gryphon asked quietly. It was as if she had just bumped into Zach, if she had a different personality. She wasn't one to be shy, or cower in a corner like she was trapped. Her eyes looked up as a car passed, only to return to the pavement of the sidewalk.

Zach shrugged, gazing at her as he finished off the sub. "I dunno, whatever you wanna tell.." She hadn't forced him to do what he had. And in the years he had known the other two, only once had Colton even touched him, and it had been by force to help him when he was hit by a car.

She had never found much interest with herself, maybe because it was more interesting to hear about others or maybe because she didn't like herself, either way she searched her mind for something to say. "I should've died when I was six... but, apparently, I was some miracle child.. But I screwed up my chance of being in heaven when I did die.." Gryphon shrugged, "Not very interesting.. but guess I was no miracle child." She put emphasis on the word miracle. The word bothered her, it was all she ever heard at the hospital. All her family talked about at the few reunions her grandmother held. It was like that was all anyone remembered about her and to her, it was nothing to be remembered by.
