Zach shook his head at her first words, watching her warily. He finished his sandwich and closed his notebook, stuffing the pencil in the spiral and setting it down before standing and heading to the dumpster. He pulled it out, fishing around in the crevice there, and found a pack of cigarettes and a lighter before pushing it back over their hidden stash, only belongings. His stomach complained but he didn't dare eat any more, lit up a cigarette and took a drag as he sat back down, touching at his cut palm with a wince. "Zacharias," He mumbled.

"Not very talkative, huh?" Gryphon stood, investigating her surroundings. She never went too far out of sight, but it also wasn't like she hadn't seen an alley before. "There's three of you, so why live in an alley?" Her feet danced over the ground as she moved back toward him. "I guess because of the space? Some apartments can be tiny." She paused, looking at him and then out to the street. "Door would be nice though," It would seem that she was talking to herself, but she did wait for him to at least reply this time. The conversation still going on in her head, just in case there was no real answer. It was something she had adapted to. 'I swear, you could talk to a fence post!' Her grandmother's voice ringing in her ears.

"Don't like people.." He shrugged, blowing out a smoky breath, his voice muffled by the cigarette as he began to write again in his backwards and reversed scrawl. "We don't have money. Or education," He explained quietly. He set the notebook down next to them again, pressing his fingers to his still bleeding palm with a grimace.

Her eyes twitched, jumping from brick to brick as she sized up a building. Her hand weaved through her hair as she turned on her heel to face him. "There's plenty of people without education with money. And apartments provide more privacy than alleys." Gryphon shrugged, her hands slipping into her back pockets. "But if you like living in an alley, go ahead and keep living here."
"I'd probably pick something with better scenery. Like the lake, it's beautiful out there." A smile crossed her face for a second, remembering the first time she was taken to the lake. It was by her grandmother. Each year they went, and each year her grandmother would share stories of her mom and dad.

Zach shrugged. "But it gets cold," He murmured, blowing smoke. He offered the cigarette curiously, gazing back down at his notebook and mumbling to himself. He huffed after a moment. "I'm gonna walk..." He stood, holding his notebook close, watching her in question before making sure everything was hidden and leaving the alley.

She reached out curiously, taking the cigarette between two figures. The smoke filled her lungs before leaking from her nose then through her mouth. "Caves, fire wood. Gotta be a woodsman." Gryphon handed the cigarette back, watching him stand. "Sounds great! I'll join you." It was peppy, but a mocking of peppy. A laugh slipped from her lips as she caught up to him. She kinda liked his short answers. Her hand played with a charm on her necklace as they walked. "Just curious, do you have a job.. at all? I mean you gotta make some money..?"

Zacharias took it back, careful not to touch her in any way. He took another drag, looking around before stepping off the curb and across the street. He shook his head. "They do, kinda. Not me." He ran a hand through his hair, nit sure why he was okay with her tagging along. Then again, he was okay with Trayce and Colton, just nobody else. He preferred wandering alone, eyed the nearing park and turned, heading towards the water as he worked off the last of his cigarette, murmured something under his breath to himself about taking a pack from the store tomorrow.

Her hands shoved in her pockets, she followed along. A nod off her hand as he answered. "Go to the mall. A lot of uneducated people work there." She laughed, but not at him. At the kids she worked with. It was amazing the stupid things they did. Her turns matched his, careful not to get close enough to bump into him. She didn't like that, it looked couple-ly. A sigh exhaled from her lungs, her head turning to watch the park disappear. Gryphon scanned the area with her eyes, not sure of where he was going. "You must go on a lot of walks."

Zach shrugged. "Don't like people," He repeated, tucking his notebook under and arm and stuffing his hands in his pockets, playing with the back of a snakebite with his tongue "I always walk.." He breathed. "We don't us'ly stay places long though." He shrugged, ducking into the trees at the edge of the park and moving down a faint trail. The water was clear up here, reflective. Considering the way he acted, it was surprising he had managed to live so long alone on the streets. He was obviously somewhat dependent on the other two. The trees opened into a clearing near the edge of the lake. He huffed, pleased, and gazed quietly across the water.

Gryphon looked around, following him willingly. "Eh, I can deal with people if it puts a roof over my head." Her eyes coasted down to the dirt trail, watching the tiny pebbles go by. "It's a good hobbie, keeps your weight down. But I guess you don't worry much about that. It's more about getting the food, right?" Her arms folded across her chest as they stopped in the clearing. It seemed cooler here, letting Gryphon relax as she took in a deep breath. "You know, when I imagine people on the streets.. I imagine tougher looking guys." Her shoulders moved up and down in a shrug, glancing at him quickly before at the water's surface.
