Knox took Jack's hand, helping the toddler up on the sidewalk. He slowly got up, the curb being almost as big as him. "Get it." He told Knox with a smile, and Knox shook his head, picking up the little boy. The little boy smiled, sticking his thumb in his mouth as he laid his head on Knox's shoulder. His grey eyes looked around, watching people as they passed.
"You want chicken nuggets?" Knox asked him.
"Milk." He said from behind his thumb, and Knox nodded, pulling open the door. He walked through, waiting in line. He ordered Jack a happy meal, and got himself a coke before he walked to a table, sitting the boy on the table.
"Milk?" He asked, and Knox handed him the bottle of milk after he stuck a straw in it.
"Don't get it everywhere now. I'll leave you out in the sun to spoil."
"No." Jack said, sipping at his milk.

Music pumped loudly from the speakers of Drew's car as she drove down the road. Zooming into the McDonald's parking lot, she debated on going in or not. Seeing the drive-thru convinced her it would be easier just to go inside. The music cut off suddenly as she took the keys out of the ignition. It was her first day off in awhile, but it wasn't that she was actually off, she had just called in sick. Her movements were graceful as she moved from the car and into McDonalds.
When she walked in the door, her eyes glanced around, taking in the crowd. Right away she spotted a cute little boy with who she assumed to be the father, but around this town it was hard to say. A smile spread across her lips, Drew always had a soft spot for kids, at least til' they hit their teens. "Just a coke and some chicken nuggets," Her voice was smooth and soft as she talked to the cashier. She pulled a ten from her pocket and took the cup off the counter.
After getting her change, she made her way over to the drink dispensers. It seemed like a long wait for her food, but as it appeared on the counter, she grabbed it. "The sadness of being alone," Drew mumbled as she looked around for a place to sit. She ended up sitting down at a table not to far away from the family she had spotted earlier.

Knox sipped at his soda, opening the box of Jack's food. He sat the fries and the chicken nuggets on the table for him, pushing the toy and the box to the corner of the table. Jack sat down his milk, picking up a french fry. He stuck it in his mouth, watching the woman as she walked past. When she sat down, he waved at her, smiling from behind his fry. Knox just looked down at his phone and the sketch Britt had just sent him.
He pulled an iPad from his bag, and sat it on the table, turning it on.
"I wan pay, daddy." Jack told him, and Knox shook his head.
"Eat your food, Jack-o-lantern, and you can have your toy." He said, sending the sketch to his tablet. He opened it up, turning it this way and that before he started fixing it.
"Daddy need sauce." Jack said, holding out his chicken nugget.
"No, Jack. That's a new shirt." Knox said, and Jack pouted, throwing it at him. "Jackson! Eat your food." He said, sitting the chicken nugget on a napkin. Jack shook his head, picking up his milk again. Knox rolled his eyes, thinking Jack was jus like him when he was little. If it could be disobeyed, Knox was doing it.

Drew watched the little boy, waving back. Little kids always made her want a baby, but she was just fine with watching someone else's little kid. Then she didn't have to deal with the pain and stress for the next eighteen years. She looked down at her food, and opened the container of her chicken nuggets. It wasn't that she was hungry, she was just bored, looking for something to do.
Her attention was drawn back to the kid as he began to argue with her father. A laugh escaped her lips and shook her head. Sometimes, reality was much better than TV. "He's gonna be a heart-breaker," Drew commented, as she scooted back her chair and walked back to the counter. The man handed over two BBQ sauce packages and she returned to her seat, opening one up.

Knox looked up at the comment, a smile playing on his lips. "He already is. He's a flirt and he's only two." He said, looking back down at the sketch. He started to color it in, shading it carefully. Jack was watching her, then reached down for another french fry. He stuck it into his mouth, waving at her again.
"I get soos." He told her, pointing to the little black Converse on his feet. "I get a dress daddy." The boy was dressed like his dad to a T, a black undershirt on under a baby blue button down, the front of his shirt tucked into his tiny black faded jeans with a hole in one of the jeans. Whereas Knox had on a green shirt and black skinny jeans. Jack picked up a chicken nugget, taking a bite out of it. He looked over at the woman again, grey eyes watching her intently.
"Don't stare, Jack. It's rude." Knox said, leaning down to pick up the pen he had dropped.
"You rude." Jack retorted, and Knox just rolled his eyes.

"They do start young now-a-days," She smiled, waving back at the little boy again. Dipping a chicken nugget into the BBQ sauce, she popped it in her mouth and looked from the boy to his dad. It was cute how he was dressed like his dad. Drew remembered being little and trying on her mom's shoes. Her mom found it funny til' Drew had started to leave the shoes out to where the dogs could get them. After that, the closet was off limits.
It was funny, watching the two argue. She had never really been around a family after she lost her halo and pretty little white wings. The last person she had talked to was Jacob, and he had been in and out of her mind since their run-in. Eating another nugget, her eyes still switched between the two. Drew wondered if she should continue the conversation, but she figured it would be better to let them have family time. Even if she did enjoy a little conversation every once and awhile.

Jack took another bite out of his chicken nugget, leaning over to see what Knox was doing. Knox locked it before he held it out, knowing if he didn't, Jack would try to draw on it.
"Perty." He said with a smile, and Knox started working on it again, Jack leaning over to watch him slowly color the tattoo in. "I wan go sit a her." Jack said, pointing over at the woman.
"If she wants you to. Just don't bother her. And don't get anything on your shirt." He said. Jack reached over, grabbing his happy meal box. He dumped his things back in, then carefully got off the table using a chair. He climbed up beside Drew, sitting his box on the table. He looked up at her with a smile, then fished in his box for another french fry. He put it in his mouth looking over at Knox. Knox just smiled at him, then started working on his drawing again. "I told you he's a flirt."

Drew starred out the window, watching cars pass by on the street. Her mind drifted all over the place as she slowly switched between eating the nuggets and her drink. The nuggets were almost gone, and she was trying to think of somewhere to go after. Her attention averted toward the little boy as he pointed at her. She gave a small smile as she watched him put the things in the box and walk to her table. She helped push the chair forward so he could reach the table easily, looking up at the boy's dad, a smile appeared on her lips.
"Hey there cutie. My name's Drew," Her eyes looking back to the little boy as she turned to see him better. "How's your food?" She asked, picking up one of her own nuggets and taking a bite. Drew couldn't help but smile as she talked to the little boy. He was adorable.

"Me Jack." He said with a smile, looking up at her. He reached into his box, picking out another fry. He put it in his mouth then took another out for her. He sat it on the table near her nuggets, reaching back into his box. But he grabbed his toy this time, and that was all she wrote. He tore into it, sitting the car on the table. "Brrr brrr." He pushed the car back and forth across the table. "Daddy milk." He complained, looking over at Knox.
Knox grabbed his milk, walking over to hand it to him. He took the car from him so he would finish eating, and Jack pouted. He threw a french fry at him, and Knox threw it back. He picked a chicken nugget out of his box, taking a bite out of it. "Daddy tooked my car." he grumbled, reaching into the box for another fry.

She ate the rest of her nugget, and picked up a drink, taking a sip. She was kind of relieved to be talking to the kid. Sometimes it was easier to talk to kids, than someone her age. A kid is innocent, and just about anything they say is adorable. But adults were usually serious. Jokes only made on those few occasions. Drew laughed as he ripped into his toy and began to play with it. An animated kid, she just hoped he kept his spunk as he got older. Boring adults were the worse.
Her eyes moved to watch as the boy's dad stood, grabbed the milk and walked over. Families were cute. Maybe it was mostly the kid making it cute, but it was cute none the less. "He's just jealous." Drew replied, picking up the fry he had sat down next to her nuggets. "Adults are always jealous of kids." She took a bite out of the fry, a bit more salty than usual. She ate the rest of it before taking another sip of her drink.
