"I don't mind staying long hours. I need the experience, I guess." He said quietly, taking another bite of his fries before he realized he was full. He sat them back on his tray, wiping his mouth and hands with a napkin. "Babies really are gifts.. They're so innocent, you know? Everything we see, they don't. You can have a baby on the roof and tell it to jump to you and it will. Just cause it has faith you're gonna catch it. I wouldn't trust anyone to catch me coming off a roof, that's for sure." He said quietly. He remembered something about that being in the bible.
He had been kicked out of his church for having Tripp, the preacher saying his baby was a sin. But after that being said, he was happy to leave. He loved his baby and wanted him and to him, that's all that mattered. "And plus, no one else lights up when you give them a lollipop." He smiled, looking up at the sky. He sometimes wondered if they were in Heaven watching him, if they missed him like he missed them.

Aidan nodded, finishing off her cheese burger before looking out the window. It was a nice day, but soon they would be headed back to work. She'd be working til' five, he would have the privilege to leave after four. Her finger played with the water running down the side of the cups as he began to talk again. It was her first real conversation with someone besides snotty parents who demanded their kid to be taken first.
It had been a headache walking into the clinic today. The room was completely full and nurses were running behind schedule. But Aidan didn't mind, she loved being needed. Each day she walked into the office, there was something new for her to do, or fix. "They can also put a smile on anyone's face. Not as easy if your that person's actual age," It was also another reason she worked with kids. They never complained when something took longer than expected, they just happily bounced onto the next thing in their head.

Asher nodded, getting up to throw away his trash. He walked to the bathroom to wash his hands before he made his way back to the table, taking his seat again. He guessed he was trying to fill the void that was there once his son was taken. He had decided he didn't want any other children, didn't want to date or marry again. There was still that lingering hope they would come back. Anything was possible in this town, right? Not to mention the feeling of guilt he got when he had tried to date. He felt like he was cheating on Jourdan. 'Til death do us part' didn't apply as far as Asher was concerned.
"Kids are just adorable." He said quietly, chewing on his lip again. He always chewed on his lip, even when he had his lip ring in. It was just a habit, something Jourdan always fussed at him about.

Her phone buzzed, breaking the moment of silence. It was nothing important, just a text. A sigh rolled off her lips, her hand guiding a few more fries into her mouth. Eyes watching as Asher stood and threw his stuff away. "Their the true heart breakers of the world," It wasn't til' after she said it, that she realized it could be taken the wrong way. An apologetic look crossed her face before she stood, dumping her trash into the trash can.
It was a slow walk back, her eyes concentrated on Asher's face, trying to see if she had upset him. "We should get back, you can follow nurses around til' four. You can leave if you want after that," Aidan was back to talking about work. She didn't want to upset him. Her hand reached out, grabbing her drink as she waited for him to lead the way.

"They really are. Especially when their dad is alluring." He said quietly, thinking back to all the girls Tripp had attempted to flirt with when he went to the park. He would have been five this year, going to school when it started in the fall. And Asher would have bet that he would be flirting with those girls, too. But like everything else, it was left to question. He would never know.
He walked out of the establishment, holding the door for Aidan before he started down the sidewalk, his head down as he thought. He was taking it better than before, but that depression was still there. He would never stop wanting his little family back. He cherished every moment he had with them, even the fights and late night feedings. He chewed on his lip looking up as they neared the plaza. He held open the door for her, then followed her inside, looking around at the patients, and receiving many dirty looks back. 'Why can't I just have my family back? Then I wouldn't have to do this..' He thought.

Aidan walked along in silence. Sometimes it was all she needed, just a little bit of quietness. That smidge of peacefulness. She went back to her morning meditation, something she did each morning before coming into work. It was usually the only way she could deal with the rude, sick adults, and sometimes, even the rude workers. Her day dream carried her far away, to where she didn't even realize they had arrived back at the office, "Thank you," Aidan smiled thankfully as Asher held open the door.
She hoped something good would come of this. He was a good man, at least what Aidan had seen of him had proved he was a good man. It seemed like good things went to the evil and the bad things went to the good. Sighing softly, Aidan continued her little day dream to the front desk, only focusing as she was handed some files. "Here," Her hand took a few of the top files, handing them over to Asher, "Call the patient's name out and lead them back to an empty room. After that, go grab a nurse and take notes."
"Before you leave, come find me." Aidan smiled, patting him on the shoulder as she walked into the waiting room to call one of the files. He was doing pretty well for his first day.

Asher nodded at her thanks, following her into the office. He took the charts she handed over, glancing at the names before he looked back to see how many rooms there were open. "Uh.. Paislee Booker?" He asked, watching the little girl with the dark hair and bouncy curls jump up. She smiled, pulling Clae with her.
"That's me." She said, her accent thick.
"Well hello, beautiful." He said with a smile, offering his hand. She took it, following him into the room. He waited for the nurse, and they got her stats before he went out to call the next person. It didnt surprise him the dirty looks most of the parents gave to him, nor did it surprise him how fast the waiting room cleared out. He was walking to Aidan's office when he felt someone tug on his jeans. He looked down at the dark haired, green eyed little girl and smiled.
"All better?" He asked.
"Yeah. Bye bye." She said, and he waved to her, watching them go before he knocked on Aidan's door.

Aidan had just gotten back into her office. One of the nurses had misplaced a file, who would have guessed it would have been under the unorganized nurse's papers on the front desk. She was typing on her computer, each key she pressed made a subtle click. It soon became a rhythmic and cleared all other thoughts from her head. "Come in," Her response was immediate after the knock on her door.
Her soft eyes looked up to see Asher coming in the door, "How was your first day?" Her hand gesturing for him to sit down. It was an ordinary process, she had to make sure everything went smoothly. It wasn't only him getting interviews, the nurses he worked with would also fill out papers. It was Aidan's job to make sure every paper on Asher stayed together. That his weekly reports were okay. "I hope everything went smoothly," Her hand held a pen, a blank page in front of her, soon to be filled with questions and answers.

Asher was hesitant about actually sitting down, usually got lost in thought when he sat. Which was why he was always moving. "Everything went fine." He said quietly, looking around the office. He chewed on his lip, his black hair in his brown eyes. And although he was an encantado, they hadn't turned yellow in awhile. He didn't have the need to draw anyone in. He just wanted to live until he died, which would prove to be sooner than later if he didn't stop trying to die. "I think, though, that if you'd keep two nurses at the front desk, one on the records, and two in the back, things wouldn't get as congested as they were earlier. That's how we had to do things in class." He shrugged, looking down at his shoes. He usually got his ideas shot down, so he wouldn't be surprised if she pulled the this-is-my-office-and-what-I-say-goes card. He messed with his school ID, the person in the photo barely looking like him.
He leaned back in his chair, his hands playing the keys of a silent song on his legs before he realized what he was doing and started to play with his wedding band again.

Her hand scribbled across the page, skipping a line or so as she wrote questions. When he began talking she skipped back to her first question. Each time he began a new word she finished one. It surprised Aidan as he suggested something. A smirk pulled at her lips, as she wrote something on the back of the page. "How many nurses where you able to watch today?" Aidan asked, choosing not to respond to his suggestion at the moment.
"Did you feel uncomfortable at all?" was her next question. She wasn't much into interviews, and thought it would go buy a lot quicker if she asked two questions at a time instead of just one. Her eyes quickly glanced up from the paper to his face, giving him a quick smile.
