While Alison Driscoll probably could have just headed home after class to make herself a snack, she decided to splurge. McDonald's wasn't the most healthy option but it was quick and easy, and she supposed that it would be alright in moderation.
The bespectacled sixteen year old opted to sit in the corner of the eating area while she ate her quarter pounder, as she was going to do a bit of writing and was not a particular fan of anyone seeing what she wrote.
Alison couldn't help but note her feelings were odd, but tried to push them aside. It wasn't all that odd to write and be afraid to show it to others for fear that they would be overly critical, but for Alison it went beyond that. She wrote most of her 'stories' out as diary entries from the point of view of a (so far as she knew) fictional woman by the name of Katharine Wright. So why did it feel so much like showing these to people would be like showing off her own diary?

Sullivan had decided to be nice and get his sister something to eat, since surgery hadn't been fun for her, and she hated the hospital food. So he got her an apple pie, and ordered himself some chicken nuggets. He took his foot, and sat down at a table near the window. He put his sketch book in front of him, flipping it open to the next sketch he was doing. It was a thin girl with short, choppy hair. She had on a pair of brightly colored headphones, and her outfit was becoming equally as brightly colored. He figured if he could find all the items in the sketch his sister would be excited.
He put one of the chicken nuggets into his mouth, then pulled out a bright pink colored pencil. He started on the shirt, coloring in random bits with the bright color.

Every once in a while, Alison would glance up from her notebook to rest her eyes and think. It also meant that she could people watch a little, which was usually entertaining.
On one of such glances, she spotted a redheaded boy and a younger girl sitting at a table near hers. She glanced at the other two, tapping her pencil against her chin as she did so. She smiled and waved to the younger girl, though glanced back down and jotted down a few more lines, taking another bite of her burger. She did find it interesting that the redheaded boy was working on his own piece of work, what appeared to be a drawing. She normally would not think twice about approaching, but she knew how secretive she was about her work, and wasn't sure if this guy would feel the same...
Finally, she decided to go over there. She enjoyed socializing, and the two of them were doing something in common, so why not strike up a conversation? She finished up her quarter pounder and strode over. "Usually would have thought Starbucks was the kind of place people would go to draw and write, but apparently you and I had different ideas." She remarked with a smile.

Sullivan saw Taiken wave at some girl with her good hand, then slowly started picking at her pie again. He looked up as the girl walked over, smiling a bit at her remark. A smile from Sullivan to anyone besides his sister was a rarity.
"I prefer the lake much more, but Bow Tie here wanted something to eat that wasn't hospital food." Taiken wrinkled her nose at him, putting the casted arm in her lap. Sullivan finished with the link stripes on the shirt, then began on the shirt above it.
"NO!" Taiken complained, taking the color from him and handing him a dark grey. "That color. And make the jeans purple. And the shoes pink." She told him, and he nodded, slowly started coloring in the shirt.
"He's making me an outfit." She told the girl with a smile. Not that he hadn't helped pick out the one she was wearing. He had made the bag for it. "He's gonna try and make me a pretty necklace for it."

Upon hearing the nickname 'Bow Tie', Alison turned to look at the other girl. She noted the arm in a cast and frowned, though grinned at the mention of hospital food. "Well, you can hardly fault her for that. Hospital food isn't very good." She wrinkled her nose as well, then proceeded to introduced herself. "I'm Alison Driscoll."
She watched the exchange between brother and sister (or at least she assumed it to be brother and sister), and smiled fondly, thinking of her own 'book', and comparing it to her relationship with Nathan. Nate and Alison had gotten along pretty well as children, but every since their mother's death, everyone in the family went their separate ways. It was as if everyone wanted to avoid confronting the fact that one of their own was missing, and it bothered Alison. It was getting to the point where she wanted to scream.
Hearing the other girl talking to her, Alison brought herself out of her thoughts and smiled. "He's making you an outfit? I hope it's a good one. Looks colorful, at the very least." She was going by the one in the picture.
