Caine ruffled his hair with his fingers while Dallas went back to change. His bed head laid in all different directions. His eyes went straight to Dallas when she returned to the living room. The way she looked made him smile. He didn't know why, but everything about Dallas was just cute. The way she talked and the way she moved. Caine followed her out the door and over to her car. Opening the passenger door, he crawled in and settled down into the seat. His mind debated on whether or not to put his seat belt on, but in the end, he slid it across his chest and buckled it. He looked over at Dallas, playing with his hands, before slipping one over to her lap and grabbing hers.
"You must have fallen asleep while I was talking last night." Caine laughed to himself, and looked up at the light as it turned green. "Yeah, I think I'm gonna stay." He squeezed her hand softly, mulling over the thoughts in his head. "I didn't meet someone like you when I first came. Which is why I never stayed, but meeting you and having a friend... I'd hate to lose that."

Dallas felt him take her hand, and squeezed his hand gently. "Well, I don't want you to leave.. I want you to stay here, with me." She pulled into the parking lot of the coffee shop, and killed the engine. But she didn't get out. She just sat there, holding Caine's hand tightly in hers. "You really aren't going to leave, Caine? You're gonna stay here?" She looked over at him, biting her lip. "I really want you to.. I think I'd like being your friend. A lot.."

Caine smiled when she said she wanted him to stay. He was at lost for words, his mind nothing but a blank slate. He didn't know the words to how he felt. When they pulled into the coffee shop and she killed the engine, he wished he could save this memory. "Yeah, I just need to find a job and somewhere to live to make it more permanent." Her comment surprised him. "I like being your friend too."
Caine squeezed her hand, before opening his door and walking over to her door. "How do you like your coffee?" he smiled as he opened the door. Once again, he took her by the hand and led her over to the coffee shop door. He opened it for her and followed in behind her. "This might be a stupid question, but do they have anything besides coffee? Like.. food?"

"You can stay with me. If you don't mind either sleeping on the couch or sharing the bed with me." She followed him inside, looking cautiously at the guy eyeing her. She moved closer to Caine.
"They serve meals too. It's like an old dive type place." She sat down at the counter, pulling Caine to the stool next to her. She let go of his hand, letting it rest on her thigh. She handed him a menu, laying her head on his shoulder to look at it with him. "I want that." She said, pointing to a crissont. She reached into her back pocket, pulling out her credit card. She tapped it on the counter, looking up at the pretty waitress.
"I want that. And a coffee. With milk." She pointed to what she wanted, looking up at the girl who was looking at her like she had half a brain. She folded her hands in her lap, looking down from the all too familiar look.

Dallas's body brushed against Caine's as she scooted closer to him. He looked around, spotting a guy. He thought it was strange for such a pretty girl to be strange, but it was cute all the same. They sat down, and his thumb drummed gently on her thigh as she rested her head on his shoulder. The smile from this morning still pulled at his lips, and he leaned his head against hers as she ordered what she wanted. But when she pulled her credit card out, he reached his hand out and slipped it from between her fingers, pulling out his own wallet. "Hm.. A crissant and a coffee, black. Please" He took some money from his wallet and handed it to the girl, "Keep the change."
Caine turned back to Dallas to carry on their conversation. "That's a generous offer, but I think you have enough people in your house." He spoke lightly, and brushed her hair from her face. His fingers trailed over her cheek, but returned to her lap when he got the urge to kiss Dallas. The waitress came back with their order. "Thank you." The girl's eyes switched between Caine and Dallas, but Caine had already taken the crissont in his hand and was now watching Dallas to make sure she was comfortable. He had almost forgotten about her credit card, and held it out for Dallas to take. "I didn't say this last night, but thank you for letting me stay at your apartment. I hope I didn't get you in trouble though.."

"I like a lot of people though. It keeps me busy. And besides, I like having you around." She smiled over at him, taking her card back from him. She put it in her pocket, then took her coffee, holding it between her hands. She looked down at it, biting her lip.
"You're welcome. I didn't get in trouble. Dusk took care of Christy and Devon. He said he thinks you're nice. You know, it would just be me, you, Chris and Devon. That's not a lot of people. And Christy goes to school. So do I. So during the day it would just be us and Devon. When I'm not at school." She took a sip of her coffee, then looked over at him.

"I like being around you." Caine smiled, "It's relaxing. And I'm not constantly thinking.." He took a bite of his crissont, and put his free hand back on Dallas thigh. He mulled over the thought of living with her, but still felt that it was a huge favor and he still didn't quite know who Devon was.. or Christy.. He didn't know how it would end up. It almost scared him. Maybe Dallas would understand if he didn't? But then.. when would he see her again?" His hand traded between the crissont for the coffee as his mind went back and forth through his thoughts.
He couldn't deny he wanted to be around Dallas though.. "Dallas.. It'd be nice to stay with you." He started, "I just don't know if it would be a good idea or not. I haven't met Christy or Devon, but I'm sure they'd like to spend time with you and I wouldn't want to make them mad. And I wouldn't know how to repay you." It was the best way he could describe what he was thinking.

She drummed her fingers on the counter, not wanting her food or coffee anymore. "Devon.. I don't think I'm too much to him other than his guardian.. And Christy.. I'm not.. She doesn't think too much of me.. Neither does Dusk, to be honest.." She looked down, rubbing her thumbs together. "But I get the hint. It's okay. Just as long as you promise you're gonna come see me sometime." She pulled out her keys, twisting one off the key ring. She sat it down in front of him, putting her keys back into her pocket. She pulled her mug towards her, looking down into it. She didn't want to admit it hurt, not having anyone who really cared. She ran her thumb across the rim, looking down at it.
"I should be getting back.." She said quietly, slipping off of the stool. "Do I get a hug?"

Caine watched as she recoiled back to the mood she had when they first met. He wanted to hold her, take back what he had just said. "They care for you. I've known you one day and all I want is for you to smile. So they have to care for you. Your kind, sweet,.. beautiful. How could they not? I just don't want to intrude, but I will come see you." He picked the key up in his hand, before slipping it in his pocket. "I promise. I will come whenever you want me to."
Caine stood from his stool, watching Dallas as she asked for a hug. He pulled her close to him, wrapping his arms around her waist. He held her close, and didn't want to let go. Caine looked down at her, wondering what to say. He didn't have a phone yet so he couldn't tell her to call him. "Whens the next time you'll be at your apartment?" He let her go from his grip, but stood close to her.

Dallas hugged him tightly, wrapping her arms around his waist. She buried her face in his neck, wishing she didn't have to let go. She closed her eyes, just enjoying having him hold her before he let go. She put her hands into her pockets, looking up at him.
"Uhm.. I usually stop by every day to drop off clothes and stuff. And put them away. So I'll probably be back tonight around nine or ten. That's when I usually get Christy down to sleep.." She looked down at her shoes, tapping her fingers against her keys before pulling them out. "I think by the end of the week we should be moved in.." She thumped her keys against her leg, then kissed his cheek gently before walking back out to her car.
