"Parker, Your mother and I have decided to take a well needed vacation. We expect you to behave, and keep the house clean while we are gone." Her father's voice broke the usual silence at dinner time. Her head raised, exchanging glances between her parents. "I've been stuck here all summer and you two need a vacation? You've got to be kidding me..." She muttered and pushed her plate away, crossing her arms.
"Don't talk back to your father. We can't just bring you to Mexico. It's mommy and daddy time." Her mother smiled. It was like everything was going good between the two, like they hadn't even gotten into a fight the night before. "I'm eighteen, not a little baby."
"Didn't she just tell you no back talk?" A stern looked crossed his face, as if he was really going to do something about it. "This is stupid. I'm leaving." Parker huffed and pushed her chair back from the table, making a dramatic exit outside.
Once she was outside, her eyes wondered about and down the street. Parker was never much of a planner, but then again, all she wanted was for them to chase after her. She sighed and started down the sidewalk, hands rubbing up and down her arms as she walked. "It's mommy and daddy time." She mocked, coming to the end of her street and making a left to head toward the playground.
