"Alarice? Cute." He smirked faintly. "I usually go by Ash." Another shrug, focus drawn towards his lighter again, lighting it and flipping it through his figers as the flame was died down again, repeating the action several times before setting it back on the table once more.
"Sorry," He murmured, lrobably paying more attention to the thing then to her. "Habit, playing with fire."

She made a face and blushed. "Alarice is n-not cute. It's silly. Ash is nice though. S-simple, and it fits you." She watched the fire as his fingers danced through it and around the lighters. "I-I wish I could do something like that." When he set the lighter down it was like watching a play end, a sense of loss, an emptiness. "D-don't apologize."

Ashoka shrugged. "Was always getting in trouble you know? Catching things on fire. Had this habit of watching the flames or watching things burn. The way they moved an acted. Always trouble.."
He smiled crookedly, but something lingered in his eyes. Catching things on fire, including his own family. He stared down at the lighter, the flame gone like a lightbulb gone out. A light skinned finger traced over it gently, fondly.

Arice couldn't help but stare. Was he implying he set living things on fire? Surely not. No one was so bold to as admit it, were they? "I've always been afraid of fire." She had nightmares where she could see her parents burning, her sister that was still missing, even herself. She could almost feel the flames on her now, and panic began to rise in her throat.

Ashoka chewed on his lip. He had been talking of objects, not people, but realized how morbid it had sounded. Still, consdiering what he had done, he didn't bother correct himself. I'm so sorry Zephyr....I wish I had thought things through better..'
Eyes burning, he tried to shake away the thoughts. "Yeah? That's too bad.." His voice felt strained and he cleared his throat, mumbling a halfhearted sorry.

She wondered if she should tell him why she was so afraid of fire, of the nights she woke up clawing at her throat, trying to breath through acrid smoke. Deciding against it quickly she shrugged. "No reason to apologize." She looked down at her watch, wondering whether or not she could afford to eat out tonight. Trix would complain about the processed, artificial meat, but she did not want to cook, or pull on her pelt to hunt. "Would you like to join me for dinner?"

Ashoka hesitated. He honestly wasn't a people person, was surprised she had stuck around so long. "Sure, I don't have anything else to do," He murmured, red eyes glancing up towards a burly looking man glaring at him.
He scowled, hadn't done anything wrong, hadn't seen the g- oh yeah, he had accidentally lit his shirt on fire on the streets once. A smirk played on his lips before he turned his attention back to Alarice.

"Um, i-it won't be an-anything fancy. I-I don't have the money t-t-to do anything other than f-fast food." She stared down at her hands, fidgeting with the strap to her bag. A part of her was enjoying the company. It was different from sitting at home alone all night like she normally did. Plus, he seemed nice enough. It was a break from the normal people who just ignored her. He actually spoke to her.
She started to stand, still staring down at her bag and bumped into someone. She murmured a startled apology, but the man did not move.

Ashoka smirked faintly. "Fine with me, I don't either. Standing, he followed her. Whenthe guy didn't move at her words, he scowled faintly, ready to bark a retort at him. But he needed to keep that side under control. "Hey," He huffed. "She asked you to move." He nudged at him somewhat harshly, watching the guy glare but walk away, then led her through the rest of the crowd towards the door.
Pulling it open and standing aside for her, he drew in a breath of the fresh air, some of his nerves easing up.
