"No fluid in the abdominal cavity. No broken ribs or signs of trauma. The stomach appears to be unbruised. The sack around the heart appears to be normal. There are no foreign objects or sign or scarring nor trauma." He grabbed the saw and began cutting the ribs carefully. Soon he lifted the top of the ribs out, and sat it aside. He looked around, pretending as if he didn't know the cause of death. "The heart appears to have a blockage." He said, then began to remove it with a skillful hand. He picked it up, setting it on the scale.

Kit wrote done what Deacon said dutifully, concentrating hard, his tongue sticking out of the side of his mouth slightly. He looked up when the coroner paused, watching as he removed the sternum and a section of ribs to get to the heart. When the heart was laid on the scale he jotted down the weight and then looked up, curiosity getting the best of him. He propped the clippboard on his hip while he nibbled the edge of the pen. "If you are the grim reaper, why do autopsies?"

Deacon looked up at the boy, raising an eyebrow. "Why not?" He snapped off the tape recorder, leaning back in his chair. "I know how they died. It's easy money. Unless you're one of those people who think being the coroner means you only have to deal with dead bodies. In which case you would be an ass for assuming. I got my nose broken like, two weeks ago by a crazy man. We deal with the living too." He pulled off a glove, pulling his mask down. "I have a daughter to support and a dying boyfriend's medical bills to pay. And trust me, having pretty much every organ in his body replaced isn't exactly how I would like to be spending my time. Because that involves watching him suffer while he heals. And doing this, I don't have to touch anyone who's living."
