"This is so stupid!" His voice echoed across the water, ending just as a rock splashed against the blue surface. A few minutes earlier, Damian could have sworn he heard someone in his ear. But it couldn't have been, his father never talks to him. Never wants anything to do with him. Rubbing his hands over his face, Damian exhaled deeply, trying to refocus. But it didn't help, his blood felt as if it was boiling.

Bending over, he scooped up a few more rocks. "I just need to get the hell out of here.." He huffed. His arm stretched back before launching the wimpy rock half-way across the water. The other rocks fell to the ground beside him, his steps leading over to a turned over log at the water's edge. Damian plopped down, trying his best to forget whatever had creep-ed into his mind.

Taiken messed with the key around her neck, walking slowly up the river bed. She glanced into the water, watching the mermaids swimming upstream. She guessed it would he warmer down at the ocean, and maybe that's where they were going. But she didn't know. She wasn't a mermaid.

She reached up, tucking a wavy strand of hair behind her ear. She usually conned her brother into doing her hair for her, but she had done it herself this time. And she was proud. She spotted someone sitting by the lake and walked over, smiling at the familiar face. "Well, hey, you." She said, sitting down beside him. She stretched her legs out, leaning back on her hands. Her brother had warned her to stay away from him, that he was far too old for her; and older guys were trouble. Not to mention, the last thing she needed was to fall for someone she could never have.

"Hey," He mumbled, giving Taiken a small smile. He inched away from her a bit, not sure of what to do. She was young, and attractive. Damian glanced back out toward the water, trying to think of something else. "What are you doing out here?" He asked, chewing on the side of his lip as his hand ran through his hair. He tried to relax, inhaling deeply and clearing his mind.

She shrugged at his question, the grey sweater she had slipping off one of her shoulders. She didn't bother to fix it. It was always falling. "I dunno. Sully gave me like.. some money to go shopping and I decided to stop here instead. I don't know what I want yet. Maybe some new nail polish." She smiled over at him, shaking one of her wrists to fix the bracelets on it. "Why? You wanna come with me?" She asked, pulling her phone out of her back pocket. She sat it in her lap, turning it over to open the back. She pulled out her money, counting it before she tucked it back in and closed it.

"Just wondering.. Didn't think I would run into anyonre out here," He bite his lip, and looked out into the woods. "If you think that'd be a good idea." Damian offered a smile. He did enjoy being around her. It was easy, and he liked the way she talked. Leaning back on his hands, he tilted his head to look up at the sky. His eyes wondered over the ruffles in the clouds and he tried to imagine what it felt like to be up there. A soft sigh escaped his lips and he looked back to Taiken.

Taiken smiled, pulling herself to her feet. She tucked her phone back into her pocket, then held a hand out to help him up. "Sure. But you gotta promise you're gonna be fun. I can't be hanging out with no grouches." She teased. She drew her hand back after he was up, afraid of touching him any longer. He had a hold over her she didn't understand. She was usually rational, thought everything over. But to have a boy who she actually thought she could fall for who she knew better than to? That scared her.

He smiled, reaching out to take her hand even if he didn't need it. "Me a grouch? Never," Damian laughed as their hands fell apart from one another. He shoved them into his pocket as he began toward the path that would lead them closer to the mall. His eyes wondered curiously over her and everything else in the forrest, his mind trying not to stay focused on one certain thing.

His left hand came from his pocket, holding a packet of bubble gum. It was either this or cigarettes , and Damian didn't want to smoke in front of her. "Want a piece?" He offered, two pieces laid in the palm of his hand as he held it out.

"Ooo, gum." She smiled, taking a piece from him. She unwrapped it, tucking the wrapper in her pocket. She put it in her mouth, chewing it for a minute before she blew a bubble with it. She kept glancing back to him, her eyes wandering over the lines of his face. But she always looked away quickly, afraid to be caught looking. She followed him to the mall, her hands laced together behind her back.

"So.. Where you wanna start?" She asked with a smile, looking around at the people. She glanced back over at him, her heart pounding a little faster.

He smirked, unwrapping his own piece and popping it into his mouth. Damian played with the wrapper for a bit, folding it into a little square before slipping it into his pocket. It wasn't long before they reached the mall. He chewed his gum, blowing his only little bubble before sucking it back in to pop it. He glanced her way at the question, shrugging. Giving a small grin, he shifted his eye back to the center of the mall, watching as people passed by them.

"I'm not hungry so we can go where you wanna go first," Damian swiped his hand through his hair once more, looking back toward her as he began to walk further into the small.

"I have no idea. So I say we just walk around." She said with a smile, putting her hands in her pockets. The other shoulder of her sweater fell down, exposing the little white and pink camisole she had underneath it. She glanced around, chewing on her gum. She blew as big a bubble as she dared before she sucked it back into her mouth, glancing over at Damien. She started towards Hot Topic to see what nail polish they had, poking through the little glass bottles.

"Ooo, look at this one." She said, holding up a mint green color.
