Britt laughed, shaking his head. "Well, my parents have twelve kids, and then me. Who they've disowned." He ordered a six inch sub with just turkey and cheese. He took it from the woman, figuring he could eat half later. If he didn't get sick from eating in the first place.
"No, it's not rude. Well, it was, I guess. If you're a normal person who gets offended. But I only get offended if you call me ugly." He joked, following her to their table. He looked down at the sub, biting his lip. "I had an accident when I was younger. I was riding a horse and things went.. really bad." He looked out the window. "And them being the whole, religious 'thou must have kids' couple they were, when the doctor said the accident caused me to be sterile, they said I was satan or something." He shrugged, and took a bite out of his sandwich. It hurt knowing he couldn't have any kids, but the way he saw it, the world had enough hell with him alive. Another little him running around? That would just be awful.

"Oh.. I'm sorry." Aidan looked across the room to avoid eye contact, before taking a bite out of her sandwich. She thought for awhile, not knowing what to say after that. "Was your band any good?" finally slipped out of her mouth, she took another bite out of her sandwich. It wasn't that awkward to be sitting here with Britton, but Aidan didn't feel like sharing her past would be very nice. Her childhood was happy, even though she was an only child. Her smile soon returned to her face though as she fixed her mind on other things.
Aidan placed her sandwich down, and took a sip from her drink. "Was your band any good?" She loved music. Besides nursing it was her passion, though it was more of her secret then anything else. Her eyes sparkled with interest, and her body leaned in to hear him better. She took another sip from her drink, before picking her sandwich back up. "Did you play an instrument?" She had many questions. Aidan enjoyed talking to others that liked music, especially the kind that was child music.

Britt took another bite of his sandwich, chewing it thoughtfully then swallowing it. He missed spending his days in the recording studio. "I guess we were good. We got signed to a label and made an EP. But no, I didn't play any instruments in the band. I did vocals. But I leaned how to play main guitar and rhythm guitar after we didn't get signed to a new label." He took another bite out of his sandwich and realized he was getting full. He looked out the window, watching the cars and people pass.
"You've been a nurse long? You don't look old enough to have been working long." He bit his lip, looking over at her. He was never any good at small talk. It always made him feel like a dork. You had to walk that certain line; small talk was like, make it or break it. You saw the person again or you didn't. And more often than not, for him, it was the latter.

"That's pretty cool." Aidan gave a warming smile, as she finished up the part of the sandwich she was gonna eat and wrapped the other half in the paper. She took a few more sips from her drink and sat back in her chair. "Oh, I prefer drums over guitar." She said as he mentioned he learned to play guitar. Hmm, so why would a guy that seems nice not care if he was dying or not? Aidan shrugged off the thought, it was too soon to get personal. This could even be the last time she saw this man but that was no reason for her to begin asking personal questions. Her mind refocused when he asked her about nursing.
"No, I've only been a nurse for a year." Aidan started off, "But I started trying to be a nurse when my first dog got sick. He had to go through surgery and I gave him his medicine, fed him, and gave him water after wards. That was when I was about fifteen.." She stopped and realized she had began to babble. "Hm, well that was probably more then you cared to her." Aidan laughed and crossed her legs. "Have you been doing tattoos for long?" she questioned.

"That's cool. I like nurses. Except when they give you shots. Nurses are more awesome than doctors. Then again, they don't have to give you the 'you're dying, sir' speech. So I guess that's a plus." He drummed his fingers on the table.
"Uh.. I've been doing tattoos for.. about five years now.. I don't know why I started. I guess because it's an easy trade. Or maybe because like.. when I do die, that's kinda.. my memory will kind of live on. I guess.." He shrugged, wrapping up his sandwich. He yawned, and realized his stomach was starting to hurt him badly. He had never turned to pain medicines, though. He thought that it was a terrible thing to turn to. He didn't want to give his life up to an addiction.
"Was school hard to become a nurse?" He asked, biting his lip.

Aidan laughed softly. Her mind thought back to the kid's she had given shots to. How she had gotten them to be still and quiet. It was simple, really, just be kind. Children were so sweet and easy to distract. Aidan guessed that's why she worked with them. They were genuinely nice, while as most adults were genuinely selfish. "That's a good way to look at it.. if there's a good way to look at it." Aidan's mouth twisted when she said this. At least he had some positivity? He was still pretty odd though. Aidan got up and walked over to the counter and got two bags. "Here you go." She gestured a bag to Britton with a smile.
"No, it wasn't too hard for me. It seemed to come quite naturally. It's just something I love doing. I like making people feel better." Aidan replied as she stuffed her sandwich into her bag. "Especially with kids. They're just always so sweet." her pretty smile was back on her face, as she sat down and grabbed her drink. She looked down at her watch, she still had thirty minutes before she had to be back to the office, but what did this man have to do? Aidan decided she would just sit there and finish her drink.

Britt nodded, his pain starting to cloud his better judgement. He didn't want to come off as rude. So he smiled over at her. He bit on his lip, chewing absentmindedly on the lip ring there. He thought back to when his mom had told him when he met a pretty lady, he needed to be very polite to her, and treat her like a princess. Not that he ever listened to his mom, but he guessed that came in handy now. He put his sandwich in the bag, folding the top over. He looked over at her, praying she couldn't see the pain on his face, see how bad he just wanted to go lay down, and hope for sleep.
"So.. You like your job? It's nice?" He leaned forward a bit, folding his arms across the table. "Some of the nurses I've seen have complained about it a lot. The entire time they're checking me, they're grumbling about it. I don't know why people get into professions they don't like. Thats kind of like.. marrying the one person that you really really don't like." He drummed his fingers on the table, one of his hands, finding it's way around his abdomen.

"Yeah it is." Aidan watched Britton's facial expresses. She knew he was getting uncomfortable. She kinda wished she could do more. "Hmm..Do you like your job?" She asked, hoping to move the conversation forwarded a bit. She didn't want to keep him much longer, he looked like he needed rest. She wanted to make sure he would be okay, but knew that would be almost impossible to do if he didn't let her. "Well I guess we should get going back. You don't look to comfortable." Her voice was soft and comforting as she stood and pushed in her chair. She held the door open for Britton and followed behind him as he walked out. "Do you have any tattoos yourself?" Aidan knew that was probably a stupid question, but asked anyway.
Her eyes wondered the streets, looking over each individual carefully. Then her eyes traced the buildings, and the streets. It was a pretty quite town, and Aidan enjoyed it quite well. she never knew who she would meet, and today it was a pretty delightful surprise to meet someone closer to her age then a new child. "I hope you enjoyed your sandwich." She said as she pushed the button to cross the street, "And that it didn't upset your stomach or anything." Aidan crossed the street carefully and looked toward Britton. The office was just another block away.

Britt nodded. "Yeah, my job is nice. Most of the people are pretty cool." He followed her out and heard her ask if he had any tattoos. He slipped off his jacket, showing her the Mickey Mouse on the back of his arm. "I got that one, one on the inside of my lip, and one on my foot. But other than that, I don't have any. I'm not really a patient person when it comes to getting my own tattoos done."
He looked at her when she talked about their lunch, and he smiled. "Yeah, it was nice. Thanks for letting me tag along. If you ever wanna eat lunch again or something, I'm pretty sure you already have my number on file or something." He opened the door to her office to her, watching her walk in before going out to his truck, climbing in and doubling over in pain.

"Neat" Aidan smiled cheerfully as she stopped outside the office. "It was nice meeting you. Don't forget you have my number too if you need anything." She walked inside her office, and smiled to the nurses. She placed the rest of her sandwich in refrigerator and got back to work. Aidan picked up the next file. It was a young boy who had came in many times for numerous of things. A refreshing sigh was released from her chest as she walked out into the hall and called out the boy's name. Him and his mother soon approached Aidan, and she led them down to the room they would be waiting in. She did all the necessary things and then told him his doctor would be with him shortly with her big smile.
