"I didn't say, sign, or imply that." She said flatly. She couldn't help thinking she didn't like arguing with someone anymore than she did talking to them. She sat her note pad down, reaching up to fix her ponytail.

"If you wanna get in a pissing contest, by all means, have at it. It doesn't mean either of us is any better than the other. So I really don't see the point." She clicked her pen a few times before scrawling something else on the doodle.

He shook his head in exasperation. 'What I was getting at was you don't have to hate yourself over what you can't help.' He crossed his arms back over his chest, scowling at her halfheartedly.

He shifted his weight a bit, reaching up to toy with his nose ring thoughtfully.

"Hating myself is a lot easier than hating everyone around me." She shrugged again, propping her elbow on the table to push her bangs out of her face. "They can't help it. I can. By avoiding them." She coughed into her arm, looking out the window for a second. "You don't just stop hating yourself.." She didn't want to change, didn't have a reason to. She was living fine the way she was, even if it was practically torture. Torture she had grown used to.

'You can. I work with insecure teens every day. There's a lot of damn change.' He smiled reasurringly, drumming his fingers on the the table top.

He stretched a bit, sighed. He himself didn't know what he was doing with his life. Why he taught and worked even through the weekends. A job to occupy his life. Because he had nobody to go back to.

"Can and want to are two totally different things. And I can't think of one single reason why I should." She ran her hands down her jeans, at least bothering to wear a belt today so you couldn't see her underwear when she moved. She didn't have anyone who she wanted to change for, anyone who was worth changing for. She had herself and as far as she was concerned, she wasn't worth it. She started rearranging the sugar packets, turning them all the same way.

Zayne would have groaned had he the vocals to do so. Instead he tilted his head back. 'You gotta want someone to curl up with, someone who likes you for who you are. You just can find it, right?' He dropped his hands to his sides. What did it matter? He was being stupid.

Rubbing at his face he sat up again. 'Nevermind.'

Harper shook her head. "No, I don't.." She said, then chewed on her lip. "There's a difference between wanting someone you can curl up next to, and wanting to curl up next to someone who doesn't feel compelled to do it." She tapped her finger on the table again. "Someone who isn't drawn to do it. If you get someone, it's because they like you by choice. If I get someone, it's because they were forced to. I don't know about you, but someone who has the ability to force someone to force someone to do something they wouldn't otherwise do, it a monster.." She trailed off, watching a vampire walk in. The pale skin and allure always gave them away to other alluring species. Especially considering the fact the two never mixed.

'You're lucky I know you're not human or I would be freaking the fuck out. But you do have a choice, and there are people who can see past it. You don't have to go hiding your natural beauty because what you are.' He reached over, patting her hand.

"Pedophile." She said sarcastically, wiggling her fingers at him. She felt his hand on hers and wanted to yank it away, the only thing going through her mind was that he was being forced to touch her.

"I choose to hide. That's all there really is to it." She turned over a packet of sugar in her hand, looking down at it. She put it back in the container, resorting to a simple shrug.

"Harper! He needs baked goods!" The cashier called to her, and she groaned.

"Curse my mother for naming me Harper.." She grumbled, getting to her feet.

Zayne shrugged, drawing his hand back and shaking his head quietly. He watched her go, finishing his coffee. 'Harper isn't bad. Name's Z-a-y-n-e.' He spelled ut out, then gathered his things, standing to leave.
