"I go to the high school. I'm a freshman there.." She trailed off, keeping her eyes glued to the table. She knew Sullivan would die knowing she just talked to him. And he would roll over in his grave if she told him she thought the guy was cute. She could have lied about her age. She could pull off seventeen if she really tried to. Suddenly, her birthday seemed entirely too far away. She played with one of the layers of her skirt, biting her lip.
"I guess everyone does stupid things. But if you have to be normal and like everyone else, there's really no point in living." That was pretty much how she thought about people being normal, and just alike. "But that's coming from the girl who looks like she's dressed for halloween.."

Damian wiped his hand against his forehead with a grim face. High school? Oh no, were his first thoughts. This suddenly didn't look good to him. Walking in seperatly.. sitting at different tables then finally sitting at one together.. He looked around the tables. Not seeing any familliar faces. He drummed his fingers on his lap, trying to calm his nerves. This wasn't going so good.
"Yeah, it's cute." He paused. [i[Damnit. Fuck.[/i] His mind shut down, his eyes staring straight at the table as he tried to come up with something to recover with. "I mean it's more expressive. I tend to wear bland clothes.." He tugged at his shirt lghtly, and gave a small smirk. How much more awkward could this get now?

She blushed when he said her outfit was cute. She went blank, not sure what to say. But she guessed it was better than blurting out something stupid.
"My brother made it for me.. Well, he made my skirt.. I bought everything else." She mumbled, folding her hands together in her lap. She was sure he was going to get up and walk out. She was a freshman and her brother made her clothes? She wasn't sure she could get any lamer.
"I got held back a year.." She mumbled, as if that would help. "My aunt was worried because I didn't want to learn anything. I just wanted to color on the walls.."

Damian looked toward the girl, he felt relaxed again. Running his fingers through his hair, he tried to focus more on the conversation and not over thing everything. "That's pretty cool. Your brother must be really talented. Is it his career?" He asked. That was interesting and the skirt looked really well made. Damian focused his eyes back on her face as she began to talk. Held back a year? Okay, not as bad as he thought. But still pretty bad.
"You paint?" He asked, deciding to focus more on that side of the conversation than anything else. At least the conversation was lightening. Damian also lightened, not feeling so tense. Thinking it was okay to just sit here and talk to her. It's not like they knew each other, and probably wouldn't bump into each other again.

"No. My brother's just really cool like that. He likes making things." She smiled a bit, but still didn't look up. At his question, she shrugged.
"I like doing anything that involves colors and stuff. But I've never been any good at it. I guess I just do it because it's fun, you know?" She glanced up at him, then quickly back down in his lap. 'If he gets any cuter I'm just going to fall through the floor.' She thought, chewing on the inside of her cheek. "Do you like to do anything?" She asked, then suddenly felt like an idiot again. Could she have asked a dumber question.
"I'm sorry.. I'm just.. weird around guys.. Having my brother as a brother didn't help much.. He's not like all the other guys.." She ran her finger across the table.

"That's pretty interesting. Throwing different kinds of paints around sounds fun.. i guess." He laughed. It did sound fun, but he didn't want an awkward moment afterward. Maybe he should leave? Would that be the right thing to do? Damian sighed, and intertwined his fingers as they sat on the table. This was just by chance. It's not like they had planned this. He would be safe.
"Oh, I like boxing.. ha.." He laughed slightly. It was true, he did do boxing, but he's real hobby was just plain out fighting, most of the day. He chewed the inside of his cheek as she apologized. "Don't worry about it. It's a logical question." He laughed, his eyes catching the sun just right to twinkle as he leaned back. "Hm.." He sighed. I''m far away from normal too he felt like saying, but just looked down at the table. "So, uh.. I hope I'm not holding you back from anything.."

"That sounds like fun.." She said quietly, looking up at him. She got butterflies in her stomach and wanted to groan. She looked away, looking at a poster on the other wall. 'This is stupid. I'm stupid. I should just get up and walk away. He's entirely too old for me, and no one likes weird girls with red hair anyways.' She thought, running her tongue across the back of her teeth. She sighed, dropping her gaze into her lap again.
"No, you aren't keeping me from anything. We have an extra weekend day this week. Something about staff development or something.." She mumbled, playing with her skirt again. She figured if he wanted to leave, she was going to give him his chance.
"Excuse me.." She said quietly, sliding off her chair. She started over towards the bathroom.

"I guess.." Damian went quiet, not sure of what else to say. He didn't know if something weird would come out or not. His mind was so jumbled with thughts, he thought his head was going to start to spin. What was he still doing here? Why was she still here? This isn't something he did normally, in fact, it was the first time he had ever sat down with a girl the much younger than him. His shoulders shook, a cold chill running up his spine.
She wasn't talking either. What was she thinking about? Was she thinking of leaving? Did she want him to leave? Damian was getting so cofused with questions and thoughts about how pretty she looked and her cute personality and then the thoughts of how wrong this was. He looked up as she excused herself. He gave a nod, wondering if that meant she wanted him to leave. He was so unsure of what to do. Damian got up, ordering another shake quickly, and sitting back down at the table. He put a straw in the cup, sipping on it fastly. It didn't seem to help this time.

She paced around a bit, then washed her hands in the sink. She felt like an idiot. Like someone who really didn't belong there. But the guy was so cute. It almost made her sick with butterflies to look at him. "You don't have a snowball's chance in hell with him, so you may as well just forget about it. He's probably as old as Sullivan." She mumbled to herself, then started to fix her hair. She walked back out and was surprised to see him still there. 'Maybe he doesn't think I'm totally weird..' She thought, taking her seat again.
She reached into her bag, grabbing her lotion. She put it on her hands, rubbing them together for a moment before grabbing her phone. Her brother had sent her ten text messages.
"Good grief, Sullivan." She groaned, quickly reading through them. She texted him back quickly, then put her phone away.

Damian looked up as he heard the bathroom door open. His eyes caught Taiken and a cold chill ran down his spine. A smile pulled at his lips. No..no..no His mind kept saying and he knew it was wrong. When should this end? He looked down at his watch, work was in a few hours... should he use that as an excuse? He watched her sit back down, not saying anything.
"I hope I'm not keeping you from someone.." He said, trying to ease into leaving. But truthfully, he didn't want to leave. He wanted to stay here and find out more about the girl, but that was wrong.. wasn't it? "I can leave.." I probably should leave Is what his mind had said. His nerves started to get to him, making his fingers drum against his jeans.
