Jacob opened his mouth to retort, then closed it, working his jaw. He had to admit the guy was only trying to help. And Cole had clearly had a good day.
"Ah..thanks. You sure though?" He looked over at his shoulder towards Cole, who was biting at his lip, adding a number to his phone and texting it.

August nodded. "Yeah, I mean, it needs to be driven. And neither me nor my dad drive it. And Ember is too young to drive, and it'll be too long before she drives to just keep it locked up. Just take good care of it. It's not a cheap car." He looked back at Cole, smiling a bit.

Cole smiled back faintly as Jacob nodded in acceptence. "You can come in or whatever. Unless you have to be going."
Cole nodded in agreement, eyes fixed on his phone now however.

August shook his head, not caring to be around the eldest of the males any longer than he needed to. He knew the guy hated his guts.
"Nah, I've got my dad and my sister in the car. She's gonna want twenty bedtime stories before bed." He shrugged, turning to Cole. He peeked at what he was texting and smiled.
"Don't talk too much." He said teasingly, walking back down the steps to his car.

Jacob nodded, Cole looking up with a shy smile in response. "I won't," He whispered under his breath, watching him head for the car.
He mustered up his courage. "Bye August," He called, offering half a wave before smiling up at Jacob and retreating back inside. His older brother lingered a moment longer, finally offered an appreciative wave as well and closed the door as he stepped into the house.
