Zander gritted his teeth, drawing his hand back with the clipboard in it and slapping Dylan across the face with it. "Fuck you. Get out of my store." He said flatly, setting down the broken clipboard on the counter. He grabbed his umbrella from beside the counter, tapping it against his shoe.
"Two seconds, fucker. Or I'm going to beat the living shit out of you with a fucking umbrella. And THEN I'm gonna call security." He looked over at him, both angry and serious.

Dylan snarled in disbelief, one hand letting go to rub at his face, a bloody nose. "Bastard," He snapped. "I have a right to take my brother home!" He sneered at the threat. "I dare you."
Devon listened to this, cringing as Dylan's hands wrapped tighter on his scabbed arms and jerked him harshly forward. He stumbled. "Get up idiot." Devon lowered his gaze, getting back to his feet, wincing as the older male's hand met his cheek. "Listen to me Devon!"

"And I have a right to fuck you up for messing with my customers." He brought it down over Dylan's head, then hit him behind the knees, showing no emotion as he watch him drop to the floor. He put his foot square on his chest, looking down at him. "Care for a few broken ribs, or are you going to leave? I heard you threaten him. And if you think I'm letting you leave with him, you're sadly mistaken. Are you going to leave? Or am I breaking your ribs?"

Dylan was on the ground, Devon stumbling back as the grip was released, bringing a hand to his cheek, eyes emotionless though fear was rising. He backed up, sliding to the ground beside one of the racks. He heard Dylan cussing the guy out, then a shuffle of feet.
He must have been getting up, must have left, because suddenly there was silence. Devon stood up, gazing down at the red marks on his wrists from the tight grip that had been there.

Zander turned around, then looked around the corner at Devon. He sat down next to him, stretching his legs out in front of him. "You're okay? Come on.." He helped him up, leading him to the staff room. He sat him down on the sofa, then rummaged in the fridge, tossing him a bottle of water.
"You can sit in here until you calm down, okay?" He chewed on his lip, looking down at his shoes.

Devon gazed at him blankly, allowing him to help him to his feet. He trailed after him, dropping onto the sofa mutely. "Thank you..." He finally mumbled, voice barely edged with any feeling. He seemed shaken, took the bottle and twisted off the cap, taking a sip as he drew his legs up, wrapping an arm around them.
"He does that a lot..." He admitted, still studying his wrists, cheek red from the hit.

He looked at him from head to toe. "You look like you're being well taken care of though.." He said quietly, leaning against the table. He ran his hand up and down his skinny jeans. "You're staying with someone else? I don't think it would be wise for you to go come back to the mall alone.. Not if he's gonna hurt you and you can't even fight back. Granted I did break my clipboard and whacked him with an umbrella.." He chewed on his lip, wondering how he would explain that to his boss.

"Yeah.." He murmured softly. "They want me to start doing things without their help.." He mumbled. That would have been an instant give away. At his age he already should have had some independence.
He touched at the bruise on his wrist, eyes skimming over the healing words carved in to the skin

"Doing things without other people's help is fine. Like, washing your clothes or cooking dinner. But when there's obviously someone who wants you hurt, you don't need to be let out in public alone.." He said quietly, looking him over. He looked fine, aside from the healing scars and the bruises.
"When they need you to.. Can you get to a phone? Because I can always meet you wherever it is you're going.. Keep an eye on you. Just so you don't get hurt. I'd hate to see you in the paper or something.." He drummed his fingers on the table, then grabbed a napkin, pulling his pen from his pocket. He wrote his number on it, then handed it to him.

Devon bit his lip. "I don't have a..phone.." He mumbled, reaching to take the number. Their fingers brushed and something stirred in the pit of his stomach. He wondered what it was. Had those been the 'butterflies' Dallas had spoken of?
Staring down at the number in confusion, he put it in his pocket, slowly dropping his legs until his feet touched the ground again, looking up at Zander with calm baby blue eyes.
