Dallas laughed running her fingers across the soft blankets. She wished they made baby blankets big enough for big people. She could see herself dragging one around all day long just because it was so soft. "I first thought you were trying to tell me I was pregnant." She said with a laugh, looking up at him. She smiled, looking down at the little giraffes.
"I love giraffes. They're so cute. Especially the babies. They're like, so adorable." She smiled up at him, moving back over in the bed. "The doctor came in while you were gone." She said, struggling to get back into the old position she was in. "He said my leg is straight because if it were casted at an angle, the bones wouldn't heal. And he said my entire rib cage was broken, so they had to reassemble it, too. And that I have to stay for a few days so they can make sure everything is healing fine before I go home." She finally got back the way she was, patting the bed beside her.
"Come lay with me. I can't sleep without you." She said softly before noticing he had his other arm behind his back. "You look fishy, Prince Charming. Do you have a frog?"

He smiled, but it soon disappeared as she told him about the doctor. "Then I'll stay with you." He eased himself on the bed, pulling his arm out from behind his back. "It's not a frog.. I hope chocolate is okay?" He paused, looking at her, "They let you eat right?" Caine asked, not sure of what she was allowed and not allowed to do. He scooted closer to her, rolling on his side so he was able to get as close as possible.
"Everyhing besides what's broken is okay, right?" Caine asked, his face unable to hide how worried he was. "You don't have internal bleeding or anything?" He ran his fingers through his hair, pushing his bangs off to the side so they swooped just a little. "I don't think I'm gonna stop worrying til your out of he hospital." He sighed, kissing her lightly on the cheek.

Dallas smiled, taking the chocolate from him. "That's so sweet, thank you!" She said, kissing his cheek. She wrapped her arms around him, running her fingers over the lid of the box.
"I dunno. My pain medicine makes me not hungry." She sat it on the table beside her bed. "He said there's no bleeding, nothing that's really of concern other than maybe some nerve damage. But we both know that in two weeks everything will be back to normal." She laid her head on his chest, running her fingers up and down his stomach.
"I wish I could have a baby, when I'm done with school. But I don't think I can, since I'm an angel. But I guess Christy is as close to a kid as I'm gonna get. You know, given she doesn't go touching Deacon while her brother has her." She yawned, then looked up at him. "I'm sorry I scared you, Caine.."

Caine smiled as she wrapped her arms around him. His cheeks flushed red, and he laied his head down on a pillow, looking up at Dallas. She was beautiful, so perfect. And the feeling he got everytime they were together was undescribable. He stroked at her hair gently. "Two weeks? You won't have to stay here for those two weeks, will you?" He asked with a sadden tone. Of course, he would stay with her, but the hospital bed was so small and everytime he moved, he thought he was causing her pain.
Babies. That was another thing Caine had missed out on. "Guess it sucks dieing young.. I always thought I'd have a big family. You know.. a little boy that looked up to me like I was hero like I did with my dad." He looked down at the edge of the bed, chewing on the inside of his cheek. He placed an arm around Dallas carefully, being sure not to squeeze her. "Are you comfortable?" He asked, looking back up into her eyes.
"When you recover, you should take a day off from everything and spend it with me. We could go see a movie, or eat lunch by the lake. Or something, anything really. Just as long as your with me." He played with her un-broken fingers, lightly, trying to imagine the next week. He hoped Dallas wouldn't get tired of having him around.

"I don't think so. Probably just a couple more days." She said, looking up at him. She listened to him quietly, stroking his cheek gently.
"I know what you mean.. I always thought I would be a mommy to a bunch of little kids. Big families are always the best. Mine was so small, even if I did have a twin. I guessed moma and daddy didn't have no more because they were afraid they would have twins again, or triplets. I'd still love to have children, though.. Maybe I'll adopt another one day, littler than Christy. So I'll actually be it's mother.." She trailed off, shrugging her shoulders. She felt him wrap his arm around her, and moved closer, laying her head on his chest again.
"Perfectly comfortable." She said with a smile, rubbing his chest gently. She listened to his suggestion with a smile, looking up at him. "I'd like that, a lot. Spending the day with you sounds nice. Spending any time with you is nice." She kissed his cheek, the only thing she could reach without moving. She heard her brother stir, and looked over at him sit up, rubbing his eyes.
"You're okay?" He asked, obviously worried. She nodded, laying her head back on Caine's chest.
"Never better." She said with a smile.

Caine's mind wondered to the subject of kids. He couldn't believe that he was going to miss having a boy of his own. A son to show how to throw a football. He bit the inside of his cheek, just trying to imagine what it would be like. But maybe, he could be like Dallas and adopt a child. Maybe the could adopt one together? He shook the thought from his head, but some how he felt that it could just possibly happen.
A yawn rolled off his lips, and he settled comfortably into the bed. "Great, I can't wait to plan it." He smiled, feeling the kiss on his cheek. Caine leaned in and kissed the side of her head, before relaxing back and closing his eyes. "Do you think you'll be able to walk around in the morning? We could take a walk, so we aren't cramped.." His voice trailing off slowly as sleep began to over take him. He drifted slowly, still waiting for Dallas's response.

Dallas nodded, kissing his cheek. "I'd love to get out of this room." She said with a smile. She laid her head back on his chest, thinking about what it would be like to have a baby, to be able to have a small little baby -hopefully a boy- to take care of and love, to watch grow. She smiled, and fell asleep thinking of the little baby she may never have.
She woke up the next morning, realizing she had rolled onto her back. She groaned, pulling the gown over her shoulders, tying it at the side. She moved back over to her side, looking up a the nurse just leaving. She hadn't woken up in pain, so they must have her on a steady dosage. She folded the small baby blankets, running her hand over them. She hugged them close, yawning before looking over at the clock. She tapped Caine gently.
"It's almost eleven." She said, kissing his arm.

Caine woke with a start at the tap of Dallas's finger. "Oh, good morning." He sat up in his bed, swiping his feet off the bed. His arms stretched over his head, and a yawn rose from his lungs. He looked back at Dallas, "Did you sleep well?" He climbed out of the bed and headed toward the side Dallas was closet to, kissing her gently on the lips.
"Wanna go see if they have something to eat? Take that walk?" Caine smirked, holding his hand out for her to take. She looked so beautiful, her face glowing in the small rays of sun that showed through the curtains. He thought himself as lucky to have bumped into her.

Dallas nodded, pointing towards the wheelchair. She knew she couldn't walk, not with her leg like this. And her ribs made crutches impossible. She pulled herself into it carefully, moving her leg into the sling. She looked up at him, folded her arm across her stomach.
"I just wanna walk." She said, feeling Caine start to push her. She looked at the pictures down the hall, the wallpaper. She saw the nursery, and looked in at all the little babies.
"Aw, look how small they are!" She said, rubbing the blanket in her lap. "That one has red hair, oh my goodness. They're all so beautiful." She smiled, looking up at Caine. "Aren't they just adorable?"

Caine pushed Dallas, absently mindly, lost in his own thoughts about her. But his voice interruppted the thought, and he looked down at Dallas, and looked over to the side. "Yeah they are.." His voice low, how had they gotten back to this? All these babies had mothers and fathers and Caine would never be a father. He pulled her up to the side so she could see them better. The smile on her face let him wash away his thoughts. She was smiling again, and he was glad to see that.
"Look how small that one is." He pointed over to the right, where a baby blue snug hat covered the small babies head. "You would be a great mother, Dallas." Caine sweetly kissed her on the check, and crouched down beside her. His eyes washing over each crib that held a baby. They were all different, in a very small way. It was weird how the hospital kept up with them all. WORD COUNT: number of words go here NOTE THIS: notes? THE BASICS: tags? CLASSY?
