Cole only tried pulling away again. "I'm not nuts..." He whispered, eyes closing for a moment, refusing to admit that others at school called him so behind his brothers' backs.

He brushed August's hands off, too upset to want to be touched right now.

"No, you're not. You're quiet. I'm nuts." He let his hands drop, not wanting to scare the boy any more.

"Cole, look at me.." He said quietly, sitting up straighter, tipping his chin back gently. "You were in a car accident. No one just forgets that, especially when it causes so much damage. It doesn't make you crazy, it doesn't make you sick, or wrong, or stupid. It makes you broken. That's all. And no wound can't be healed with glow in the dark bandages. And that's a fact." He ran his hand across his neck, looking up at him. "You're perfectly fine. You just need someone who's not gonna give up, Cole."

Cole huffed faintly. "I...don't like change.." He whispered. "When that metal pole went through Shawn's back..." He drew in a shaky breath, trembled. "I just-..."

"Shh.." He wrapped his arms around the boy, drawing him close. "It's okay, Cole.. You're okay.." He rubbed his back gently, stroking his hair with his other hand. "Everythings okay now.." He whispered, kissing the top of his head. He rocked him gently, trailing his fingers up and down his back.

"I thought he was gonna die.." He whimpered, curling up close. "E-..everything changed...everybody did.. My dad died and-...and Ty and Jake started drinking.." He worked his jaw, trying to cease its trembling as he buried his face.

"I just wish things could go back to the way they were..."

"Everything happens for a reason, Cole.. You might not see it right now, you might not see why exactly it happened right now, you may never see it, but it's a reason." He rubbed his back gently, stroking his hair with his other hand. He tipped his chin back, looking down at him.

"If it's not okay, it's not the end. Remember that.." He said quietly, kissing his nose.

Cole only hugged him tight. He'd already spoken more today then he had in quite awhile. Green eyes closed tightly, hiding tears.
He swallowed, hands fisted tightly in August's shirt, refusing to let him go.

"Everything just fell apart..." He whispered quietly, voice muffled against the fabric.

August just rocked him gently, rubbing his back slowly. "It's all gonna be okay, Cole.. You're so amazing and strong.. Not everyone would even have the will to live after that and you're still here.. That's pretty strong if you ask me.." He whispered, kissing the top of his head.

Cole shrugged halfheartedly. "I guess..." He mumbled, running a hand through his hair. "I gotta go to the bathroom.." He mumbled, unfurling.
He stood slowly, rubbing at his face as he headed towards the boys bathroom.

He ducked inside and found a stall, locking it behind him before sitting on the top of the toilet, drawing his knees up and resting his chin on them.

August nodded, watching him go. "Fast food it is then." He said, walking out into the mall before luring someone into the hall with him. He pushed them into a dark corner, clasping his hand over his mouth before feeding and letting them go, watching them walk away dizzily. He wiped his mouth, walking back to his spot.
